Coronavirus and Save the Dates

Jennifer, on October 4, 2020 at 8:58 AM Posted in Planning 0 5
Hi all! I live on the east coast and am having a destination wedding in Sedona, AZ on August 29, 2021. I am hoping that Covid-19 is a non-issue by that point, but it can be hard to say with certainty.

We are getting ready to send save the dates and I’m wondering whether I should include a note on the back of them about Covid-19. Since my wedding is a destination wedding, my worst fear is that people get excited, go ahead and book travel when the get the save the date, and then are stuck with the cost if we have to move/cancel. People have already asked about booking, so I think everyone is just excited and ready to travel after all of this honestly.
The note I’m considering adding basically says that our wedding is on, but we will be taking Covid-19 seriously, which could mean moving/canceling our wedding if things are not better, and that we would advise waiting till spring to book travel, or if you really want to book travel now, to ensure travel companies have a good cancellation policy.
My fiancé thinks save the dates might not be the best place for that. What do you all think? Is there a better way to communicate that?
Thanks!

I think it is common sense that the bride and groom would take Covid into consideration so I don't think it is necessary. If you really feel the need to make note of it, I would include it on your wedding website rather than on your save the date.

I agree with the PP. People need to use their own judgement when making plans since everyone knows about COVID.

The STD’s aren’t a good place for that. It’s just a general thing where the invitations have specific info. The website is the better option. Also, I’ve had to cancel flights because of COVID & I didn’t get fees tacked on. There is a lot of flexibility on that.

I agree with your fiancé. I think if anything make a website or include an information card but not on the actual save the date

I know how excited you are to send the STDs, but honestly I'd wait till just after the holidays. I think there will be better guidance on Covid related weddings.
