Our honeymoon will be in a month, and I’m getting stressed out about changing the plans again. Maybe I can remove Italy, even though I was looking forward to Italy the most. I’m just afraid that if I change my honeymoon again, next thing you know there is an outbreak in France or anywhere else I choose.
What would you do in this case? Just go anyways and whatever happens happens. Would you cancel the honeymoon to Europe and go somewhere else?

Hey Jamaica 🇯🇲 is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL, my homeland. However St. Lucia is beautiful as well . I believe we’ll be going for our honeymoon.

I would stay put for now. Nothing wrong with a big honeymoon later on, that way, you can travel to where you really have your heart set. Do a mini moon for now whether in the states or even the Caribbean (you can find stuff for super reasonable prices). You won't truly be able to fully enjoy your honeymoon if your traveling somewhere that raises a question mark. I'm so sorry that this is affecting your planning. Hope everything works out!

Definitely a personal decision. A coworker of mine is getting married next month and spending 2 weeks in Japan, they still plan to go, they will just take safety precautions while traveling. I wouldn't risk it, but as others stated it is similar to any other virus. There is only a chance of death of you are not treated, elderly, or have an already compromised immune system.

Several other European countries are having cases as well. We haven't planned our honeymoon yet (wedding is in late May) but we may just stick to North America or skip the honeymoon at this point.

I've wanted to avoid Central and South America due to Zika (I'm 34 and if we try for kids its going to happen soon) and now Asia is off the table and likely Europe due to Coronavirus. I really liked the idea of Iceland and Paris, but I think we are just going to hold off doing any advanced planning at this point.

We are also in the same boat. Planned on our honeymoon for Paris and northwestern France in early April, but now it's looking like the virus may spread to that area by the time we are scheduled to travel. We already bought flights and paid for some hotels up front, and while we have travel insurance, it's a more standard plan that does not include "cancel for any reason" coverage. So, I'm worried that we won't be able to get our money back if we decide not to go (or cannot go because of State Department guidance, etc.) since many travel insurance companies seem to exclude epidemics from their coverage. Right now, we're just waiting to see how the situation develops. I suppose we'll make a final decision closer to the actual travel dates. Health and safety are obviously more important than anything, but it will still be frustrating if we lose a bunch of money...

Hungary is beautiful and much to see. Stay in Budapest and take advantage of all the history and beauty. Drive out to the countryside and enjoy the fine wines. Aside from my own selfish reasons (I'm Hungarian) - it's one of my favorite places to visit and we even bought a home there last year.

No Coronavirus in site at this time. I'm actually planning a long weekend there in the next month or two to meet with our caretaker.

We are going to Greece in May and are not cancelling our honeymoon. It’s similar to the flu. Yes, it does spread like crazy, but the amount of people infected vs die is like 3.4%. A lot of it does have to do with compromised immune systems and poor healthcare in China. I would say be cautious while traveling, it’s annoying but worth it. The main issue is enclosed spaces/ close quarters. Wear a face mask and bring hand sanitizer while traveling. We can’t live our lives in fear... there will always be a reason not to do something or go somewhere...

Hi Jasmine, I'm a reporter at a news station in Pittsburgh, Pa. I am actually working on this as a story --- what couples should do if they have honeymoons planned to some of these areas --- and I was hoping to find a bride to talk to me about their situation. If you wouldn't mind sharing your story with me, please feel free to email me at *****@******.***. Thanks in advance for your time and good luck!

Hello Brittany. Your email doesn’t show up on the reply. I’m guessing it’s because it’s trying to protect your information. You can look me up on linked in. I’m under jasmine-cortes (same profile pic that I use here.)

I'm sure you've already gotten plenty of advice on this...and I would tell you safety should be priority. I would recommend either putting off the honeymoon to anywhere in Europe or the Asian continent if you're dead-set about going or consider changing it to either a US location or along the Carribean or even Mexico or South America. If you want somewhere other than tropical, try Canada. I know it totally sucks because this epidemic is spreading quick, but being safe is so much more important and you can always plan a first year anniversary trip at a time where the stress and worry of such an epidemic hopefully isn't happening anymore.

    good luck

My husband and I booked a Italy (Rome) and Spain (Barcelona ) trip for the end of August, we purchased insurance but are really hoping something happens by then. I am more worried that the virus will become a bigger more serious threat here at home since its already in the US.

My honeymoon is in about a month and a half and we are supposed to be doing a 7 day cruise to Italy from Barcelona. I am currently trying to cancel our trip and schedule instead a beach week here in the US and then do a big trip later on once things die down. I would hate to chance it and end up sick in a foreign country.

We're going on ours May 30th- June 12...and originally scheduled Porto, Portugal, Barcelona & the amalfi coast (Positano, flying into Naples). We had planned so much stuff and really had our hearts set on going. We're going to wait until next month to see if by the grace of god this slows down at all. If not, we might have to plan for another time, or elsewhere. This sucks!

We are doing the same! It would be heartbreaking if we had to change. We've had ours booked since June 2019 and are supposed to leave May 5th for Greece. We've decided that we are going as long as the flight isn't cancelled. However, we have made a plan A, B, C, and D.

A: Travel to Athens, Santorini, and Crete as planned.

B: We may skip Athens and just do the islands if it gets a lot worse in Athens and we aren't allowed to Travel.

    C: Go to Costa Rica

D: Get and RV and drive up to Canada and do a huge road trip.

The extra planning has helped me stress a little less lol.

Ugh! I know the feeling Smiley sad our honeymoon is planned for Italy! With all of this stuff going on we're probably changing it. We don't want to and we're not like super concerned for the virus BUT I just rather not risk us stressing out as we approach the wedding day or worse get to the honeymoon and its a disaster because we can't get there or get home, or everything is locked down, etc. lol There's just too many WHAT IFs
