Coronavirus Madness

Nancy, on March 11, 2020 at 11:01 AM Posted in Planning 0 63

So my wedding is May 2nd and i'm just so bummed out I feel like this whole Coronavirus outbreak is going to ruin my wedding Smiley sad I have one bachelorette party scheduled for March 21st that might get canceled and another in April that I feel is heading that way. Is anyone else's wedding planning being affected by this virus? I'm a bummed and hoping everything goes smooth but I can't help but freak out a bit.

Are any of these events destination events or local? If local I would not worry about cancelling.

If you’re not traveling I think you’ll be ok, don’t think on it too much just sanitize as much and you’ll be ok dear. It’s here in Jamaica now too and I’m definitely not letting it get me down even tho mine is in August. Just pray 🙏🏽

Totally freaked out and my wedding is not till the end of June. All my out of town guests are elderly so if this doesn’t go away quickly they won’t be coming . Which includes my parents! Not even feeling like working on things anymore. Fingers crossed!

Trust me I totally get it! I'm freaking out over here. I already worry over everything so all this added on top of the wedding stress is no fun. I keep thinking about all the money we've spent and for no one to show up Smiley cry

I've been stressing out about this too and it's messing up my period. My worst nightmare since I was 5 was that people would not show up. We have 180 people on our guest list and I am thinking that only 10 will show up. This is going to make me go crazy and I still have 2 more months. All I can think about is how I spent 900 dollars on a dress that no one will even see. I just want the news to stop hyping it up. If no one comes I will be eternally sad that I never had an actual wedding.

My wedding is may 9th and I'm located in ct which is having some break outs however we arent canceling anything because as long as your handwashing and staying home if you dont feel well you'll be ok. We are having my bridal shower this sunday and will have hand sanitizer out for people to use haha. I was a cna for 6 years so I'm use to flu outbreaks and upper respiratory illnesses spreading like wildfire. I dont feel like we should be worrying about this as much as we are.

I am not cancelling any of our wedding plans or pre wedding plans. We are going to continue to live our lives like normal. We wash our hands and follow normal healthy hygiene practices. I work in the medical field. The media hype is ridiculous and is sensationalized to make everyone panic. Really...when it is our time, it's our time. I refuse to stop living my life and hide out in fear. If people don't come to our wedding because of the coronavirus freakout, so be it. At the end of the day I'll still be married to my favorite human and officially starting our lives together.

This! Couldn't agree with you more. Besides the fact that I have put so much time and effort into wedding planning; I want to keep living my life. Life is too short to just stop living life while they work to contain this. And they are doing what I'm guessing is all they can do.

We have our honeymoon in May and we still plan to make it. Our wedding is in April 24th and family is still traveling. I think as long as you wash your hands, dont touch your face (as how we usually should be doing) you will be fine. They recommend elderly & people with serious health problems not to travel.

I know it sucks to not have people be able to come due to the virus but I would still plan all the events. Not the same but could the bachelorette be done in town? I know you can fly state side but there may be concerns. I would feel out your bridal party but even if you cannot go out of town. Get a hotel in town or maybe driving distance away?

Jodie, I really needed to read this. I too work in healthcare. My fiancé and I are faced with a lot of negativity due to the virus. Our wedding is this weekend and we are taking everything day by day. I wished we didn’t have to deal with this especially all the hard work we put in the past year. I agree that a lot of the panic is media hype. All I can do is do my best to stay calm despite what’s going on in the world.

Sending you good vibes girl! Out wedding is April 4th, and there is a lot of concern that the venue will cancel on us. I'm hoping that's not the case- it just makes me sad that all this planning could come undone because of the panic. Especially when with hand washing and care you'll be fine. Just deep breaths.

Thank you! I am hoping your venue doesn’t cancel your wedding. I would be devestate if my wedding doesn’t happen. We are picking up my parents literally in 2 hours who flew in from the East Coast. At this point I just want my guests to have safe travels. I never imagine a year ago that virus scare would be the source of my stress during my wedding week!

Same here! I am a week before you too, 4/18! Unless a guest is sick, weddings are pretty low risk, as there are, on average, less than 150 people in the room. I am not disrupting my planning or life because of this!
