Coronavirus=pure Panic

My wedding is 5/2/2020. My county just shut down for two weeks. I’m in a state of panic, this is not something you think you need to prepare for when wedding planning. It sure if I’m over or under freaking out here. Anyone else??

    Apparently this virus won't be slowing down until July/August and they're advising people not to have gatherings over 50 people. This virus may not be as dangerous for younger people,but it is for older people and it spreads really fast, if I was in this situation I would be postponing my wedding

    My venue told me that they would know more in two weeks whether or not they will have to cancel. It’s very tragic and my anxiety is at an all time high as well!

    FROM A NURSE TO A SCHOOL TEACHER YOU NEED A TIME OUT PERIOD. OR I KNOW GO WATCH FOX NOW AND SEE WHAT THE PRESIDENT IS SAYING NOW! OHHH ITS NO LONGER A HOAX. IT'S NOT RIGHT TO PUT OUT INFORMATION THAT'S NOT TRUE BASED ON A CHANNEL YOU WATCH.

    My wedding is on May 2nd also. My hope is that with all the hand washing and social isolation that by Easter things have calmed down. We are forging ahead with wedding planning until then and then will make a decision whether to postpone or not. A lot can happen in the next month.

    Is there a reason for the caps? My point is this. I NEVER SAID it is a hoax. However, are people freaking out way too much? Yes. I do believe we should take extra precautions and I am but am I going to hold myself up in my house and stop living life? No. That is my perspective. I plan on cancelling my travel pans for this summer and I am going to the gym as regular, as from what I have read being healthy is helpful, and my schools have been cancelled so I am keeping myself the best I can. While I respect your profession let's make one thing clear, my information is not from a channel (do not even have cable) rather I have spoken to people in the medical field and the chemistry teacher I work with. They agree with me to take extra precaution but that a lot of this is being blown out of proportion.

    Hey Christine, fellow bride to be here... my wedding date was originally 5/2/20 at Talamore Country Club in Ambler, also Montgomery County! We were told today that the venue is shutting down for 8 weeks, so we are postponing our wedding to hopefully 10/25 Sunday, once confirmed by venue. It’s honestly a really unfortunate situation. But my fiancé and I plan to get legally married on May 2nd and possibly go to Alaska for our first honeymoon, I asked where’s the safest place to travel to in the US, and fiancé said Alaska?! Hahaha we’ll see how this pans out. Hopefully all our vendors and honeymoon to Greece can be postponed to new date in October.
    Hugs to you Christine! We all understand each other’s pain Smiley sad but we’ll get through this!

    I'm getting married on 05/02/20 and haven't thought twice about it. 🤷🏽‍♀️ the flu is more dangerous than this virus. By May, I'm sure CNN will have found something else to blow out of proportion. Just breathe

    Okay I am not going to argue as that is not why I come here. In fact, I need to take a break from the forums here. I logically understand the concern and why brides are very worried especially for those that have to post pone their weddings. For that my heart goes out to them and I hope they get to have their special day soon. However, this topic has dominated the boards and the fact that you are coming at me (disagree all you want but your first post was a little harsh) for my thoughts when I am not the only one that feels this way makes these forums unenjoyable. I wish you all the best planning for your day and I wish you and everyone to be safe during this time. Have a good evening.

    Mine too. Since that's 10 weeks away and the CDC suggests limiting gatherings for the next 8 weeks, I'm PRAYING that things will die down by that time...

    We’re making our decision the first week in April. Backup plan is courthouse on 5.2.2020 and having the celebration/vow renewal a year later. Our vendors and venue have been great. This is just so weird and no one knows how to manage it. We’re all going the best we can.

    I completely understand that feeling. But I’d rather postpone and not needed to than not postpone and have no one come. It’s really sad. We can get through this though. We’re the bad ass brides.

    Our plan B is go to the courthouse and have a celebration a year later. It’s not ideal but trying to roll with the punches.

    I agree, so far everyone has been great. I got ahold of all our main vendors. I feel pretty good. It is what it is, at the end of the day May 2nd we will both be married and that’s all that really matters! Stay safe and healthy girl!

    I think whenever you have it it’ll be beautiful. This is really the most infuriating thing and makes me feel helpless. But we will figure this out, after all we planned a whole damn wedding.

    I am so sorry this is happening for you. We’re creating a plan B of going to the courthouse on our original date and postponing a year out. It’s not ideal but we need to be open.
