Coronavirus=pure Panic

My wedding is 5/2/2020. My county just shut down for two weeks. I’m in a state of panic, this is not something you think you need to prepare for when wedding planning. It sure if I’m over or under freaking out here. Anyone else??

    Same day here also, I'm a little worried . But , I think the worst will be over by then I'm hoping. I'm supposed to go to hawaii for our honeymoon the day after. My first getaway , no kids, just me and my love, hopefully it still pans out.

    May 16th here. According to the CDC, all events that have 50 or more people in a room (weddings included) are strongly recommended to postpone or cancel. 8 weeks leaves just a week before my wedding but of course, things change. I personally have already reached out to my venue and they said I should be OK but are willing to switch the date. I completely understand all you ladies (or men) out there upset because you spent so much time planning and coordinating; it is truly exhausting. When I first heard the news, I honestly broke out into tears and just couldn't believe that I wouldn't have the day I had been planning for over a year. The main takeaway here is to remain calm and go into planning mode. Reach out to your venue and vendors and have a plan B. Unfortunately, and I hate to be the bearer of bad news, those couples who are getting married between now and May 9th will most likely have to move their weddings to a later date. That is not to say that things can't change but it's better to be safe than sorry. I personally am going to wait a few days and then move it to the end of June (if that date is still available). According to the president, this may last until the end of the summer. Nothing is certain but it's good to plan. Good luck to everyone out there and be strong. You got this.

    Same here! Our wedding is May 30th and I see A lot of people are saying “postpone” but unfortunately our resort is contracted a date and if we change it or cancel we lose $20,000... scary situation. I’m just afraid our guest will be too scared to come if the resort doesn’t decide to cancel and refund us.

    Hey Girl !

    I am to my wedding is on June 6 . Have you talk to your vendors to see if you can reschedule the dates ?

    I would recommend talking to them they will understand the situation. We are thinking about a back up plan as well this pandemic is still happening.

    Hope things work out for you guys!

    I was having a panic attack today. I went to the extent of calling a wedding chapel and thinking of getting married early. I spoke to the officiant and he asked me when my wedding is. my wedding is on June. What he said made me feel calm. He said, not to worry because we have enough time. It'll be over before then.

    I know and understand what you're feeling. There is no certainty for now. But we need to hope for the best.

    I'm getting married in Mexico on May 4. Still haven't heard back from the resort about a plan B. Our guests spent $$ to stay at the resort with us for the week I'm hoping the resort will offer refunds or at least credit for future stay should we postpone. What is your resort saying?

    I’m in the same boat. My wedding is 5/23/20 and my fiancé lives in England. He’s supposed to be moving here 5/5 and his family and friends are traveling from the UK as well. I was planning to send invitations out at the end of the month and I don’t even know if I should send invites out.

    Unfortunately these are all of our stories. I try to look at things as an optimist and “ Let God” if it’s out of my control I just let it go. Perhaps, it could be broadcast with the Small amount in attendance as suggested by the CDC and have the others who are not able to come watch on a site/screen. At least others may have the chance to view in the comfort of their quarantine. Just a thought.Praying for a positive resolution for your big day!

    My wedding was supposed to be on 4/4/2020 and my Las Vegas venue cancelled all weddings through the end of May. With me basing 10 weeks pregnant and everyone, including us, are from out of town it’s inconvenient for us to postpone and change the date, so we had to cancel. Everyone gave us a full refund except the florist (ACS Floral and Events), she refuses give us any money back. This is very sad and unfortunate for April/May brides.

    Our wedding was supposed to be a week from today. March 24, 2020 in Mexico and we have had to cancel. We are devastated.

    I would say do yourself a favor and reschedule now. You’ll save yourself a lot of heartache.

    I'm so getting married in Mexico (but not until May 31) and while I think things are being overblown, fear is fear. Have you checked your contact for deposit\penalty dates? That will help you decide what to do. We looked at ours and we have until 60 days prior to make a decision before we lose all of our deposit and they begin charging penalty fees. The penalty increases at the 45 and 30 day mark. If your guests put down a deposit a while ago, they may still be able to get CFAR trip insurance (though that is changing rapidly). The resort has also offered to extend a credit to our guests and have agreed to let them keep the same rate as long as we reschedule in a year. On March 13 there were no Corona cases in Riviera Maya and the CDC had not issued a travel advisory for Mexico, so I was planning to move forward and reminded everyone to get to insurance. With reported cases in Quintana Roo and all of the announcements from CDC yesterday, we've made the difficult decision to postpone this morning. Best of luck.

    My wedding is planned for 4/26/20. We have spent over a year and a half of planning for this day. I'm beyond devastated that this happening. I have people reaching out to me sharing their fears about coming and the unknown moving forward. I only had one immediate member of my family going to attend my wedding and now he will not be able to because all of this. My venue has no weekend dates available for the rest of the year if we reschedule. We will have to do a Thursday or Monday Wedding. I feel selfish for wanting to keep our date. We have spent so much time and money. Also, everything we already purchased has our wedding date on it already. Smiley sad I'm okay with having a smaller wedding but I just hate feeling that this taints the joy of our deserved happy day. I cant believe this is happening. I'm so stressed and devastated over all of this.

    So glad I wasn't the only one who caught how ridiculous blaming the media for the needed response people are having to this virus. Hope you are safe!
