Coronavirus=pure Panic

My wedding is 5/2/2020. My county just shut down for two weeks. I’m in a state of panic, this is not something you think you need to prepare for when wedding planning. It sure if I’m over or under freaking out here. Anyone else??

    May 15th bride here. We are having our wedding in Maryland. Because the Governor extended the 10 person or less gathering mandate through May 10, 2020, we are looking into postponing to July or August. Like many of you, we were hoping to wait until mid-April, but our venue called and encouraged us to consider a new date so we don't miss out. This situation is so unstable, I'm really hoping we will be safe with July.

    Hugs to all of you! Whatever you decide, just think of it as having more time to lose that 5lbs before the wedding Smiley heart Smiley winking

    My wedding is suppose to be Friday 4/17 and our venue is closed until April 2nd. And even after them reopening they could be following the strict guidelines of the CDC and no gatherings over 50. Everything is so up in the air. But I wanted to get some thoughts on new dates. There are no Fridays Saturdays or Sundays left at our venue for 2020 and some Fridays in Jan 2021 and then April 2021 so right now we are looking at possibly a Monday wedding on 11/23/20. It is also the Monday of Thanksgiving week and since lots of people travel and take PTO on that week anyway do you think it would make it more reasonable? Would any of you go to a Monday wedding considering the circumstances????

    Also my fiance and I have been dating since we were 15 and have been together now for 11 years. We have been waiting for our wedding day for so long and I want to take the power back from COVID19 and still get the wedding of our dreams and not settle for uncertainty.

    We moved ours to one of the Fridays in April, 2021! I think its ok to postpone for one year if you don’t feel comfortable with a Monday wedding. I know many of my friends did the same bc they don’t expect this virus to be over soon.

    Hi! My wedding was originally on May 3, 2020 so I know first hand what you are going. After things started to take a turn for the worst, I went into panic mode. Luckily I am super neurotic and I convinced my fiancé that we needed to look at options. I immediately contacted my venue and asked them what they were doing with weddings. They assured me things were going like planned but offered me new dates to reschedule. I jumped at this opportunity and after contacting vendors and a night’s rest I decided we should postpone. That’s the first thing you need to do, contact the venue AND Look at your contract (and if u can’t understand it, try to see if you have a lawyer friend who can help). If you have to postpone, so be it. Look at it as a way to get things more organized, and after all you are still going to get married, just on a different date. My venue was accommodating, unfortunately idk if all are as accommodating. I wish you the best. But freak out for like 10 minutes and then be proactive. You got this!!!

    Yes, you are not alone. We have had to reschedule everything for our April wedding to August. There are many of us out there going through this terrible time!

    Girl, i feel your panic. Mine is 5/30/20. My bridal shower is 4/26. Everyone keeps asking if i’m going to cancel reschedule. All i can say is, lets wait it out another week or 2. I feel like the world will be put back together by mid april.

    I was devastated when I made the realization we would need to change our date. After many years, sleepless night and days when I could barely get out of bed. We have moved our wedding date to November and after making the decision I do feel a waive of relief. I wish you luck in this decision and am sending you positive vibes.

    My venue just canceled all weddings through May 10th, including mine (scheduled for April 25th). I would definitely suggest contingency planning, unfortunately. Smiley sad

    June 28, 2020 which was the latest date they had available (they only allowed us to postpone for dates within 3 months of May 3). If your venue gives you that option pick a late too. There’s no guarantee things will be 100% by then but there’s more hope. We have agreed that if June 28 doesn’t happen we will just cancel and hope we get some of our money back and then do something else. It’s sad to think about that, but I am focusing on hoping that June 28 is the date.

    4/4 wedding here, had originally said I wasn’t rescheduling but our governor made an executive order to 10 people gathered to April 3rd possibly further if the situation remains. My photographer said as of now she’s not refunding because I could technically still have the wedding and she’s not available the date we are moving to. But no one is comfortable traveling right now 😭

    Has your venue said anything yet? We are ok with rescheduling due to financial reasons. With the kids now being out of school for a month now, I’ve been home with them and we are a 2 income household. I hated having to reschedule because we chose the first of spring. So now we are waiting a whole year which sucks

    We’re in Montco too! We rescheduled everything. Had to find new vendors for people who weren’t available for the new date. If this is over by April 25 I will be pissed but I’d rather reschedule then deal with the stress of will it happen or not, will I get a new date this year, and if anyone would feel comfortable coming.

    My venue said we can cancel or reschedule or they’ll reduce our minimum. Really anything we need, they’ve been really great about it. It’s too soon decide what we are going to do.
    We aren t rescheduling, so it’s a matter of the big wedding being cancelled and having it at home with just my mom and his parents or the big wedding goes on and we just have probably less people than the 156 we were expecting.
    Details with the virus are changing everyday so 45 days out we aren’t going to make a call yet

    I’m also extremely stressed. My wedding is 4/24 in Hawaii with just our parents, but they already announced today they don’t want visitors traveling there for 30 days. My date is just outside of that but it’s looking more and more like we won’t be able to travel there. I hate this feeling!
