Coronavirus=pure Panic

My wedding is 5/2/2020. My county just shut down for two weeks. I’m in a state of panic, this is not something you think you need to prepare for when wedding planning. It sure if I’m over or under freaking out here. Anyone else??

    We opted to have our wedding ceremony on our original date and we will stream for our guest. We will just have our mothers light candles, exchange vows and cut a small cake (Moved my bridal shower cake to have a cake at the ceremony at least). We will then (instead of trying to find a date this year) have a reception at our 1 year anniversary at our venue and invite our guest to celebrate with us.

    Our wedding was supposed to be May 9 and we’ve moved it to September 5. By then we’re hoping we can have the wedding of our dreams with friends and family.

    We are now leaning to something similar. My venue won’t refund our money. We’ve re-scheduled from May 22 to Aug 21st, but I really don’t think things will be over by then either or people wanting to attend large gatherings out of fear that the virus is still circulating.

    Technically the venue is closed so you can’t do anything. We’re you able to get a marriage license? If so how long is it good for? If it expires before you cane have the wedding then the venue should refund your money back.

    Our venue lady says she’s supposedly having weddings and refuses to refund. We had to pick another date, but I really don’t think this will be done by Aug 21st either, or that people won’t or still can’t travel by then. Our courthouse is only issuing 30 days out from your date, so we can’t even get that before April 22 if we want to try on our original date of May 22.

    I found this neat article filled with couples who made their wedding dates work despite being in a pandemic! I know everyone is doing what they feel is best for themselves and their loved ones during this extremely difficult time. I am thinking about all of you brides to be who had to make adjustments or changes to your special day! Please know my heart goes out to each and every one of you and I hope that no matter what you decide (postponing it sometime this year, keeping same date with smaller ceremony, postponing it until next year, etc) it is amazing and a day you won’t forget!

    Maybe this article will be helpful and give some love ❤️ and help to bring a smile out there. I know it did for me (having to make changes with my wedding date)

    Very well said Camille! We also decided to postpone our wedding from May 2, 2020 until October 24th, 2020. And like you, it was definitely a hard decision to make but it was the right choice to make for us. We were getting cancellations and that was hard to take as well. I think overall, postponing was the best decision for everyone involved. A huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders now and we can just focus on staying safe and healthy during this strange time we are living in right now. Remember, this too shall pass! It will all be alright in the end... just breathe ladies and carry on!

    We also decided to postpone our destination wedding from June 7, 2020 until November 15, 2020. And like you, it was definitely a hard decision to make but it was the right choice to make for us, family and friends. This has been super overwhelming to know that we all have to change or cancel flight and hotel. I think overall, postponing was the best decision for everyone involved. A huge weight has been lifted off our shoulders now and we can just focus on staying safe and healthy during this strange time we are living in right now. I’m trying to breath. It’s just awful! But I will try to stay positive and wait for our SPECIAL day!

    The virus is very real. Hope your wedding goes well but it’s a reality that is not manufactured by TV I know a lot who have caught it and especially medical professionals who are overwhelmed

    I understand. It has made planning simplified. We modified our ceremony etc.. I am happy. At the end of the day it is about him and I.
