Corsages Instead Of Bouquets

Jaskra, on June 11, 2017 at 2:22 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 54

I'm looking at having to cut costs, especially on flowers/decor, and I'm wondering if anyone has done this and how it turned out? I found a handful of photos and they seem okay, but I'm wondering folks opinions?

I'm doing pumpkins/candles as centerpieces so because I'm not using the bouquets as centerpieces the corsages also made a bit more sense.

The price difference for us with 8 ladies is significant. $20/corsage and $50/bouquet. A large bridal bouquet was going to be about $200. So I'm thinking maybe do corsages for the ladies and a bridesmaid sized bouquet for myself? We have at least 6 groomsmen at $16 for a single or $18 for a double.

Another option I thought of was just to do a bouquet and a boutineer for the groom and myself to really cut costs or do us and our Best Man and Man of Honor? Debating on pinning the parents/grandparents at the point as well.

Thoughts?

This is why you consider these cost before you invite big bridal parties.

No. A corsage is not a bouquet.

I see lots of BP's without bouts.

As a bridesmaid I like having something to do with my hands but of the cost is too high it wouldn't be a huge deal to go without flowers for your bridal party.

I chose the cheaper route and ordered my flowers (bridal bouquet shown in pic) from an etsy vendor. They are not real flowers but I really could not justify spending that much on the flowers.

    I ordered 4 bouquets (1 bridal with brooches, 3 bridesmaids), 2 mothers corsages, and 6 boutonnieres (1 grooms, 3 grooms men's, and 2 father's). I am paying about 400 including shipping.

After checking out this etsy shop and the reviews, I was really excited that even though I am not doing the real flowers like I had hoped, they look amazing. Wedideas on Etsy.

I'm not a fan of corsages. It reminds me of prom. Can you do a cheaper flower? I think carnation bouquets can be pretty when they are the same color. Like this

Also if you haven't asked your bridal party yet you could just skip having a bridal party.

If you search on Pinterest there are plenty of examples of bridesmaids with corsages in lieu of bouquets. You could also consider a single flower and ribbon as well.

The single flower with a ribbon is much prettier than a corsage in my opinion. That is a good option too OP! And then a small bouquet for yourself

I've seen other things being carried by BMs: baskets (with faux flowers), lanterns (with battery powered lights), clutches with some faux flowers. Googling "alternatives to bridesmaids bouquets" brought up some good (and not so good) results.

I think corsages are too 1940s Granny/ Senior Prom. Just have BMs carry a single rose tied with a ribbon. They'll co-ordinate with the groomsmen. There are a lot of reasonably priced, tasteful bouquets. Just hunt around a bit.

In my friends wedding her and her mom went to hobby lobby (or anywhere with fake flowers will do) and made their own bouquets for her bridesmaids. They picked individual ones that matched her colors, duck taped them together and then put some nice fabric around it to pull it off. They turned out really nice and cheap!

Since we are having an evening garden themed wedding we are going with lanterns with small floral accents. It's about $25/lantern with the accents (IKEA/Hobby Lobby style lol) something similar to the photo below. That could be another option.

I think they should carry hors d'oeuvres. It makes as much sense as a lantern.

The single flower option from a PP I think would be a great alternative! The added ribbon is classy and elegant.

I've seen a few pics of bridesmaids with corsages and thought it was a little weird, but that's my own opinion.

That seems more like a prom thing than a BM thing. If you looking to cut costs either have them hold nothing or hold a single flower. Also SAMS club flowers are great and cheap. What about making your own out of hydrangeas or something?

I've seen it before and I liked it. Have them hold their hands in front and it almost give the illusion of a bouquet

Agree with Celia. I cut my floral costs by only having 2BMs and 2GMs. It really does make a difference when you cut and then you don't have to skimp on the bridal party items.

The single flower option is a good suggestion as another PP has said.

I think the idea sounds good, but they definitely need something to hold. You could always do a small bundle of greenery or babies breath which would be cheaper than flowers

I vote for a single flower. Or just have a GM & BM walk down arm in arm?
