Cost for tent and drapery

Evelyn, on September 19, 2017 at 11:43 AM Posted in Planning 0 11

Howdy WW Friends!

FH and I have an all outdoor venue for the ceremony and reception (same location) and we would like to tent the tables for dinner. Our date is in May so there is a slight chance of rain but also want to make sure guests don't get exhausted from being in the sun all day. We are inviting about 150, so maybe 120 will show up so I'm guessing a 30ft by 40ft tent would work.. not sure I'll leave that up to the planner but for those that have done this before, around how much is it going to cost? There is plenty of room for any size at the venue so that I'm not worried about. Just trying to plan for the cost. Of course I'm going to want to make it pretty inside with drapery and lights to so let me know around how much I should be planning on spending.

Your advice is much appreciated Smiley smile

Just look up event rentals in your area and get bids. Most of their prices are posted on their website. I'm glad you are doing a tent and not making them sit in the sun.

My rental bids were less than I expected. The tent with table, chairs, dance floor, dj area, and lighting for 100 was less than $1,000. I'm in a city with higher costs, so I was very shocked that it was so low.

Thanks Chelsey! That is awesome to hear!! Our dance floor won't be under the tent and our venue is providing tables and chairs so I literally just need the tent and drapery so this makes me excited!!!

I had a tent quoted for a wedding at a park in Newport, RI. I was quoted $5,000 for a tent big enough for 100, chairs, tables, linens, dance floor, and lighting, including a caterers smaller tent.

It really varies by location. I would highly recommend checking out the vendor tab and requesting quotes from vendors around your area. That's the best way to plan!

Get someone to come to look at your space and give you an estimate. A 30x40 will give you enough space for seating for 120 at round tables of ten, but no bar or dancefloor space. If your caterer will be cooking on site, they probably need a cook tent.

I'm honestly shocked at Chelsey's estimate; I wouldn't expect that.

We looked at a blank slate type of venue and they told us one wall of drapery was around $1,000. People who left reviews said overall drapery was $8,000. It was a HUGE space though and things are kind of expensive in the Outer Banks

We are having a tented reception and with 90 guests our tent is 44x65. We wanted to make sure there was plenty of space for tables, 16x16 dance floor, DJ booth and buffet set up. I think you may need to look at something bigger. But you can google it, there are plenty of tent size estimators I used online.

My tent with globe string lighting and side walls set up with delivery came to $1,799.

Thank you Lauren and Emily!!! Good to know! I've been asking for quotes all day so we'll see. Our tent is just to cover the tables, our dance floor and everything else will be outdoor with no coverage so that was why I was thinking of the size I had mentioned but I don't want to feel crammed so this is super helpful! Thank you everyone for your feedback
