My dress dress alteration didn't take much & cost me $20. I paid for my maid of honor's alteration & her bill was $40. We took our dresses to a stand alone, privately owned seamstress who's been doing dresses nearly her whole adult life. When you pay for them to be done through the shop you bought your dress at, you're going to pay more than is necessary.
