Cost of Decorations

C_Law2018, on May 15, 2018 at 1:27 PM Posted in Planning 0 15
Can someone tell me what you guys are spending on decorations? I was quoted $3500 for decorations for the reception, this is not including any real flowers, no planning or coordination. Just decorations for the sweetheart table, cake table and little items like that. Flowers for the Centerpieces will be handled by the florist. I just wanted to know if this is as outrageous as I think it is? If I get pricing from others will the quotes be about the same?

What decorations does it include if it's not including flowers?

My budget for flowers and decor is $1000, and I am doing everything myself. I think $3500 for decor that doesn't include flowers seems incredibly high, but I suppose it depends on how big your wedding is.

I am going through a rental company in Wichita, KS for the majority of my decor. This includes table centerpieces for roughly 30 tables, table clothes and runner for 30 tables. Other Various decor items to decorate other tables with, a big head table with bench, decor for the ceremony, then a two door swinging entry way for the ceremony. It totals us around 2,100 for it all.

Is your quote including table centerpieces? I would think it is fine depending on how many tables you decorate. Also if you are in a higher priced area it might be more expensive.

Same question: what is the decor?

Our decor will be around $1500 and includes: all florals and greenery (mostly greenery) for ceremony arbor, bouquets, tables (guest, welcome, dessert, guest book, etc.), the simple ceremony arbor (most likely made out of copper piping), mercury glass votives for the guest tables, delivery, set-up of all decor listed and set-up of any additional decor I bring (there will be some, but not a ton). $3500 seems like a lot if that doesn't include floral, but I don't know what your non-floral decor is, so I can't really say.

She said Mr & mrs signs, welcome signs, candles on the tables. My venue is already pretty, so not much is needed. I just didn't want to worry about the small details. The venue comes w a day of coordinator but they won't help set up or clean up so I was trying to find someone to do those little things but $3500 to me is outrageous.

We are spending around $500 for decor, not flowers. I'm getting some off amazon (sequin table cloth for cake table) and a lot of recycled bride Facebook groups (candle sticks, candles, etc.). We are making some mason jar and sign decor ourselves too.

This doesn't include centerpieces, the florist is doing the centerpieces. But it includes adding the small candles around some of the centerpieces. We'll have 16-17 tables for 160 guest.

That seems ridiculous to me. Your florist should be able to provide candles on the tables and you can buy or create those signs for a fraction of that price.

For decorations we are using a local florist that is affiliated with the venue. They are going to set up. We are laying 2000 but it includes, mrs and mrs table decorations, runner with petals, 8 centerpieces (short), pew bows for ceremony, two standing arrangements for ceremony which will be moved to reception after next to sweet heart table, floral arrangement for escort card table, buttoiniers for all groomsmen, ring boy and groom. All the bouquets for bridesmaid and mines, tossing bouquet, floral tiara for flower girl.
2000 was out my budget but considering everything that is involved it's not too bad. They will deliver bouquets and buttoiniers and will set up the venue.

I think that is an absolutely outrageous price if it doesn't include flowers! I'm doing my decor myself (signs, centerpieces (the non-floral part), backdrop, 100 votive candles, some framed pics, guest book table, etc and my cost is no where near that (maybe $600)....

I agree with this and was coming here to say just that. My florist provided all my candles. I had whatever signs I wanted made on Etsy. I spent about $1000 on silk linens, gold china and chair cushions and then another $2300 for all my flowers. I suggest looking elsewhere. It doesn't sound like you're getting much for that amount.

I soo lucked out with decorations. I am paying $875 for my venue owners to be my "wedding designers" which includes DOC services and all decorating and decorations. Because my wedding is Christmastime, they have a lot already and we probably won't need to buy anything extra. My wedding is for 100 people.

I already spent $1500 to rent chivari chairs. Other items such as guestbook, card holder, memorial plaque, B/G champagne flutes, votive candles/holders, lanterns for outdoor tables, etc., are not cheap. However, some of my decor can also be used at the bridal shower. Then I hope to sell what we do not keep at a wedding flea market.
