Costa Rica, Rivera Maya, or St. Lucia???

Lindsey, on December 16, 2020 at 6:26 PM Posted in Honeymoon 1 15

Hey Everyone!

I feel like I am researching the entire internet for the perfect Honeymoon destination. Out of the 3 (Costa Rica, Rivera Maya, or St. Lucia) which is recommended? We are looking to go in Feb 2022. We would love to stay at an all-inclusive that is near town and has a good social scene but also romantic. Love the beach but also like to go on little adventures. I've seen so many good options out there and am curious to know what yall would recommend for the location and resort. Let a girl know! Smiley smile

We’re going to Jamaica at a sandals resort for our honeymoon. We wanted an all inclusive resort & I did a lot of research to get us a great deal. We wanted the beach, romantic atmosphere & are the adventurous types! I’m super excited to see Jamaica- I’ve never been & can’t wait to see those white sandy beaches!

We are considering St.Lucia for our honeymoon. I love Caille Blanc Villa and Hotel, and also Sandals over the water bungalow.

We haven’t decided which one get, but will for sure be going.
I have also heard Costa Rica is nice! You can’t go wrong with any.

Same here. I’m gonna go with something that’s not as commercial where we can enjoy it!

I love sandals, we stayed at one in Jamaica a few years ago. I’m just thinking about all the lbs I’ll gain after being able to eat ALL DAY LONG! Lol
Anyone you pick will be amazing, just make sure it has the things that are important to you guys: beach, private pool, food, etc.

It really depends on what you're looking for. I would prefer Costa Rica because of the specific scenery and my spanish language experience.

We're actually going to St. Lucia for honeymoon. We planned for Feb after our wedding but decided to push back to September for our birthdays. I haven't even searched up the other 2 so I can't really tell you anything about those locations.

Are there any experiences/adventures you think you'd have more fun doing compared to any of the other 2?? Do any of the places seem to have more of the romantic/beachy vibe that you prefer than the other 2?? Discounts and promos are also a plus if that's something that persuades you lol.

I love Riviera Maya, you can purchase cheap and extremely fun activities near your resorts which they have tons of all inclusive beach front beautiful paces to stay. I visited Cenotes, went to adventure parks that included zip lining over the forest, driving Jeeps in the mud and dirt, drinking, dancing and singing in Xoximilco (tequila dinner boat party). Water activities such as jet skiing, boat driving to snorkel near the underwater statues/museum, scuba diving and whatever your resort offers. I usually add in some couples massages for my hubby and I to have a relaxing day so if I can I'll add like honeymoon package type of deal where they send a nice hot and special breakfast to your room with champagne, followed by a day in a cabana with specialty food, drinks, etc. Massages for both of us at least 1 hour, and a beach front or private in your room romantic dinner with candles, lobster, steak and amazing dessert (something like this). Best of luck!

Full disclosure, I've never been to Costa Rica or St. Lucia, but I LOVE Riviera Maya and have been several times. I especially love the Secrets resorts. Beautiful beaches and lots of excursions to choose from.

What you just described sounds like heaven on earth. At this point we are leaning towards Riviera Maya. The Cenotes look AMAZING too. Just seems like more bang for your buck.

Awesome! I'll second the advice to see the Cenotes. I like history, so I enjoyed seeing the Mayan ruins. The Secrets spas are legit amazing. And there are such great parks for ziplining, swimming in caves, etc. Once I even went swimming with a whale shark, although.....swimming in the middle of the ocean is NOT as easy as I thought it would be. The people we encountered were super awesome and fun too.

Let me tell you it was amazing, I actually stayed in Playa Del Carmen, not too far from Riviera Maya and my hubby and I stayed at Xcaret. We don't have kids and wanted to do all of the adventure/water parks ( Xcaret park, Xel-ha, Xenses ** highly recommended, very cool, Xplor, Xavage, Xenotes. Xoximilco, the pyramid tours, and more I can't think of at the moment) that are included in the price of your stay. They also have 9 restaurant, 2 big pool bars, lounge bar ** (my fave), nightclub and so many other amazing features. We had couples massages in their outdoor spaces, very private and pretty and the entire resort smells of aromatherapy scents, its amazing. They have these food carts during the afternoon by the main pool were you could get hamburgers, seafood cocktails, elote (corn), these banana and nutella filled waffle cones and a few other choices. We stayed 8 days and it was nowhere near enough time to see it all.

I would also look at Excellence Playa Mujeres. I haven't stayed at that 1 but I've stayed at Secrets and Excellence and Excellence blows Secrets out of the water on food and service.

I haven’t been to the beach region of Costa Rica, but we loved the rainforest region near the Arenal Volcano. The resort, Tabacon, was great but not all-inclusive. As far as Riviera Maya we had a great time! We did a ton of activities and just relaxed by the beach too. I would recommend ÚNICO 20 87 which is an adults only all-inclusive resort.
