Countdown Anniversary Candle?

Kristin, on December 24, 2013 at 9:59 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 10

Curious as to what you all thought about these? Every year my mother pulled her candle out and "burned" another year off. I think because of her I always found it kind of neat and I am contemplating doing one. Are any of you planning on doing one or started one?

Attached two different ones. The first is a 1-25 year and the second a 1-50 year.

Wow, neat idea. I'd never heard of it. That's definitely something I'm going to add to my list. Thanks!

My family used to do those for birthdays! From what I remember after a while, they got really ugly from the wax.

@Rye, hers never dripped as the wax always burned away cleanly and she only tilted it after it rehardened. If a candle is properly made it will burn up all the wax with a steady flame (no drip candles).

She always took care of hers and carefully placed it back in the original box. The last time I saw it was on her 35th anniversary and hers still looked really good. Just if you are looking look for a good one like the first one (where the numbers and personalization are placed under the wax). If on the top layer or stuck on, I've seen more issues with them.

    Those are cute!!

Showers at my family you get the different colored taper candles for each milestone dinner celebration.

At a cousin's shower from FH's side this summer they had wines for different milestones which was really cute. First fight, first year, 5 year, and a non alcoholic cider for the 1st pregnancy celebration.

I really want the wines haha.

What a great idea! I've never heard of it but it's very symbolic. I think I will look into this. My family is spread out across the country so some traditions have been lost. This would be a nice one to add. Smiley smile

That's a cute idea! I've seen birthday ones of those, but not anniversary ones. I like it!

I have never heard of these before! How do they work? When do you burn it? Every day for a year? Only on your anniversay?

Only on your anniversary until the next year is reached then you put it away for the next year.
