Country themed wedding....with a little camo for the groom

Heather, on January 21, 2016 at 8:55 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 52

Anyone else having a country wedding? If so.. Are you wearing boots?! My FH refuses to wear a tux and he loves to hunt and loves camo so he and his BM and GM are wearing a camo vest with jeans, I'm not sure how to incorporate camo into the wedding any where else with out it looking "redneck".........

My honest advice; don't. Is there any way you can talk him into a brown vest with jeans? You can be country and true to your roots without being cliche.

My FH will be in jeans and a grey vest. It looks really nice. He won't wear a tux either. Like you said it's his wedding too. We both hunt and love outdoors but he also said there is a time and place for that. We will have some deer antlers on tables to throw in a little of us. He is also going turkey hinting the morning of the wedding. We joke that if he kills a bird I'll process it with my hair and make up done. Smiley winking

My FH is wearing boots, jeans, and a brown vest with a white shirt and camo bow tie. That is the most camo I will allow in our wedding lol.

BM and I will be in cowgirl boots (:

Ignore negative comments, it's YOUR wedding with YOUR man! Celebrate how you want!! Different areas have different ideas of what is "norm" if I saw camo at a wedding I wouldn't be surprised at all (:

I really recommend not going over the top with theme, but I think you can incorporate the camo elements in other ways that aren't in your face camo. Something like this:

Listen I love camo. I have camo uggs. FH loves to Hunt and has a lot of camo. But for a wedding I HATE it. I don't understand it. Why? I'm all about being unique but it's too over the top but it will look "red neck" but it's your wedding. If that's what you want then do it.

Try to talk him into a camo groom's cake. That way he gets his camo and you get your classy wedding everywhere else.

Camo grooms cake, camo pocket squares in a brown vest with the nice jeans, camo high socks, those adorable centerpieces @Miranda put up, those are all great subtle hints to what you guys love and his love for camo. A camo vest to me looks "red neck", I'm sorry, it may be what he likes but there are other ways to go about it.

It's just going to look over the top. You don't have to listen to us we're just strangers on the internet but, that's just my opinion.

And @Sara I've been to plenty of weddings where the Bride & Groom included camo and hints to their southern roots while not having to shout it. But in the end you do what is right for you and your FH.

    ETA: words are hard

I'm having country Chic theme wedding, but we're not wearing cowboy/girl boots. I don't want my BM's have to buy shoes/Boots they would never wear again. FH wants to wear a suit, and won't wear camo. He wears it every day for work(Canadian Military). I'm crossing my fingers he'll wear it for a few engagement shots at least.

My FH is one of the biggest rednecks you'll ever meet. He owns a crap ton of camo and hunts/fishes any chance he can get (got a nice 11 point this year). I said NO CAMO in the wedding to which he replied "okay babe." My advice? Make him suck it up and wear a freaking tux it's your wedding. If he really won't please just don't do camo. ETA: if you put camo in your wedding it's going to look redneck. No getting around it. FH will wear camo socks. That no one will see but him.

I saw someone once wear a camo sash on her dress, while her husband wore the matching vest. It didn't photograph well AT ALL! How about a compromise: Tan or gray vest with jeans and no tux??

Sorry when jeans & camo vest are included in a wedding it already looks "redneck"

It is his wedding day so maybe you can find a compromise (I'm assuming you are not oky with it because of you response and the question you asked.) You dont want to look back on the day and think this dosnt look like me at all. He can be comfortable and still look "nice".

I would go for a camo tie and/or pocket square. Possibly jeans or tan slacks with a button up white shirt and a brown vest? I saw a Wedding cake that was white and had camo flowers, it was really cute and done in good taste. I also love the center piece Miranda postes

I love the brown vest idea! I'm really going to work on him to get him to go that route! I want to make sure he feels just as involved as i am but I really wasn't liking the whole camo thing! Thanks for all the input it's much appreciated!!! Smiley smile maybe I could make him a shot gun shell boutonniere?

I'm having a country wedding but camo vests is a little too much. It's tacky. You can have a country wedding that is still classy.

I am probably from a totally different world but if I saw a groom in camo and jeans I would think I was being punked.

I think the camo can be a little tacky. We are doing dark blue jeans and vests for our dairy farm wedding. Bridesmaids will be in knee length dresses also to help lighten up the formality of the dress code. I did see on Pinterest they made the boutonnieres in shotgun shells.
