Couples Cooking class as a registry item

Rya, on November 28, 2017 at 6:50 PM Posted in Registry 0 22

My fiance loves to cook but I really suck at and so I was wondering is it against etiquette for me to possibly put on the registry something like a couples cooking class something like that.

So long as it's set up where someone can call and pay for the actual class and not like a honey fund where you get a check for the amount I think it's totally fine!

This is one way around that. This place has a registry and offers classes. It sells cook wear also. https://www.luvtocook.com/Upcoming-Classes. I just googled cooking classes and wedding registry

I would say it's fine. But I set up one for skydiving and everyone called it tacky. But I mean, I'm doing it anyway.

That link is to a store in Utah...are you planning on flying out there just for a cooking class?

There is a Sur La Table in Atlanta. You could try contacting the store and asking if cooking classes can be added to a registry.

I wish I thought of this. DH can only make spaghetti, grilled cheese or soup.

If you register with Zola, I'm pretty sure you can put cooking class onto it

Zola I think is what they are referring to as a honeyfund if I'm getting that right? I think they send you the check. I had been looking at Zola for help with honeymoon costs till I started reading registry etiquette

That sounds cool! Amazon sometimes has gift cards for things like that. We had a gift card for local food tours on ours.

That's an awesome idea! We may have to steal it because we already have 2 of everything, we've been living together for almost a year now.

Wonderful idea. For all the brides and grooms that come here saying they don't have anything to put on your registry - take note.

@Laura - You are correct - With Zola you would receive a check for the amount of the class - minus the fee that Zola would take for processing the payment - so you wouldn't even receive the full amount the person paying into it thinks they are gifting you.

Your best bet is to call a local cooking class like Sur La Table or community college that offers cooking classes and ask them about the best way to add this to a registry so that the person who wants to purchase it can call the class directly and pay!

    Avoid Zola!

This is a great idea! I think I'll look for a class for my daughter and FSIL for a holiday gift!

If anyone is using minted for their website you can add custom URLs as a registry. I was able to add a link to a gift certificate from a local kitchen store that does cooking classes. I added "gift certificate for a couple's cooking class" to the description on minted so people will know what we're going to use it for.

Thanks for the great idea OP!
