Just booked our venue today! We decided on this date and then called the venue we wanted, they only had 4 saturdays available next year... one in April, one in March, and the last two in November! So I told FH we have 5 months to plan a wedding 😂 the venue called the very next day and said “the event we had for sept 12 just cancelled and it’s open now” I wanted to SCREAMMMMM!!!!

We both love the fall and the colors just inspire us. So September when it’s not snowing but colors are showing was the month for us. The 12th really is when no one was busy. we can’t book our amazing cabin venue until February and it’s kinda stressing me out because can’t really book much without a solid date. While i’m waiting for February, I basically doing ALL the littler things and researching vendors.

Hey wedding date twins!!!! Have you all thought about what your all going to do if this virus goes into the summer/fall and affects your wedding dates? I know we all still have a ways to go but this virus is worrying me.

How's it going, September 12th brides? Mildly worried about this outbreak, but keep reminding myself how lucky we are that we didn't plan for a spring wedding. Sending all my love and good vibes to you all, here's what I just put onto our website, since 60% of our guests are travelling from Australia and England for our Michigan wedding... fingers crossed this all blows over!

'Hi all, we just wanted to let you know we're monitoring the COVID-19 situation in regards to our wedding. We know a lot of you had been planning on travelling far and wide for our big day, and while we are still 6 months away, you may be starting to worry about travel and plans. We have high hopes that by September this will have blown over, and we can still celebrate the way we dreamed, with all of you with us. Please keep thinking positive with us, and we will keep you as informed as we can. Here's a positive outlook for you: Northern Michigan is a very low populated area, and the state of Michigan has seemingly been ahead of many other states in efforts to contain the virus. Stay safe and healthy, we're sending all our love from Somerset xxx'

I've contacted my venue to understand postponement guidelines. I'm fortunate to still have money coming in, so I'm paying monthly invoices of about $2,500 right now. I want to know for my venue weather I can decide to postpone closer to the date and have my paid money be used for later reception.

Initially they seem quite against it, which seemed odd to me. If the choices are me canceling and stopping paying you now or me paying now and then having the party later, I'd choose getting money in the door.
If they come back and say we will basically lose our money if we have to move it later, I'm not sure I'll keep paying.

    Hi Adriana,

I am new to this group. I have been worrying about this virus in terms of my wedding as well. I convinced my fiancee to pick a different date. However, I am truly concerned and hope everyone does their part so this will blow over and we can continue with our wedding plans. Our planning has pretty much stopped until we figure out what's going on.

Cassandra my wedding plans have also stopped and we are approaching the situation the same way you are. Hoping everything blows over. We still haven’t picked a new date yet though. If we do, I’m hoping that everything transitions smoothly with my vendors. :/

    Hi Cassandra,
I’ve been worried too. Right now we’re waiting to see how this thing pans out. I’ve talked to other people that are getting married in the fall and they all said they are not moving anything.
I haven’t done any more wedding stuff, our STDs have all been mailed and I got part of my bridesmaids gifts but nothing else. My fiancé and I are in agreement though that if this does carry on and affect our wedding that we still will get married and then the the following year on what would have have been our wedding date we’ll renew our vows and have a reception. I’m praying all this passes as fast it happened. The best thing right now for all fall brides is to wait and see as time gets closer and make a decision then. The last thing you want is to make a decision to early and realize you didn’t need to. Good luck with everything
