We’ve pretty much decided that we’re not changing anything. We have put paying our vendors on hold, until we can figure out what’s what. We’ll make a definite decision come July, but we’re seriously hoping by then, this has all blown over and we can commence with the planning, paying, etc. My biggest concern is my bridesmaid dresses. They were scheduled for their fitting in a few weeks. We have time and can push it back until May, but no later than June if we want them to come in on time. My fiancé told me, my dress has to be quarantined once it comes in, lol. Thanks and hope everything works out for all of us!

We picked a new date, but haven’t spoken with any of our vendors yet. We’re hoping this all blows over and we won’t have to worry about that. We’ll make a final decision in July, IF we’re still in this situation, but holding out hope for the best!

Hey all. hope wedding planning is going as well as it can be. We live in Wisconsin and haven't luckily been hit too hard with the virus. Either way the graph they showed this morning for our state has the virus ending or leveling out in June so we are still going on as planned. How is everyone else doing? I have a feeling we are all going to be having a very busy summer since so many places are closed right now; glad I planned ahead.

This may be too much of a personal question, but I’ll ask anyway. So apologies if I offend anyone, but are you guys still paying vendors according to the payment schedule? Or gave you guys have put that on hold too? I’ve been asking for extensions because of the current situation and not getting paid, but I’m worried my planner may drop me as a client :’(

Most of our vendors only required us pay the deposit. After that, as long as we paid them within a month of the wedding, we were good. We’ve been paying them, but have since stopped. Being an event coordinator myself, have you contacted your planner and talked to her/him to find out how to handle the current situation?

I’ve been given a payment date schedule by the vendors so far. I emailed my planner a couple of days ago saying I would like an extension but she replied saying it’s still due. Emailed her today explaining my situation so hopefully we can hache it out. Finances are really tight with the current situation. Ive emailed all the vendors we have booked so far telling them we will be holding off payment. I don’t know if I’m overthinking, but I’m just hoping that I don’t get any negative impact from this. I truly understand what they’re all going through being in a business myself but just can’t afford any more expenses on top of what I already have.

Thanks for sharing your language, Macayla! I'm going to add something similar to our site.

We've discussed alternate plans and put planning on hold to wait this out for now. I'm thinking we'll be able to make a better call in June. Our vendors are almost all paid, except for their final payments due right before the wedding. I'm not sure that's a good thing though because we may lose money if we have to reschedule and the vendors aren't cooperative. We're just trying to be optimistic now.

We have picked another date, just in case. However, I’m continuing to plan. I need something to occupy my mind while sitting in the house. Once this is over, I’m hoping to have it all done and ready to proceed.

Agreed! We are waiting until June when our second deposit is due for the venue and then we will make a decision. We're hoping by then we will have a better idea of what our state's reopening plan is. Our venue just rescheduled a wedding to the day after ours so I'm thinking that means they expect our wedding to still happen as of now. We've been engaged for over 2 years so we really don't want to push this out any further!😭 so much planning!

We have not made a final decision yet (waiting until mid/ end of May) but we have talked about just getting married with immediate family (so we can make use of our down deposits) and do a reception next year at our “one year.”

We are thinking the same thing, probably going to hold out until about June when hopefully our governor (Illinois) gives direction on what the phasing looks like. Would downgrade photo+video to smaller packages. I’m trying to come to terms with a small backyard wedding instead of our 200+ wedding... but having the big party next year for a big vow renewal means I can wear my wedding dress twice!

    Hello Beautiful Brides!
Getting Married on 9/12 in Columbia, Maryland. It’s 1:08 and I’m just starting to Panic (and I don’t usually panic because I’m a Event Planner and my job is to keep cool) but this “new wave” that is in the talks of going around has me on the edge of my seat. I didn’t think of rescheduling until I read some of your post. Are we really doing this??!! I sent another payment to my photographer yesterday just out of habit, and didn’t think not once that I may need to reschedule my date. Ive been so busy planning and tending to my clients that I didn’t think of my own wedding! ~ signed Ms. NowImStressed

We decided to postpone to August 2021. We decided it was for the best as we have a lot of out of state guests who we would be disappointed if they could not attend. This way we do not have frantically wait/worry to see how things are. I feel relief that the decision has been made even though it was devastating to make. Given that we are in MA and the Boston Marathon which had been postponed to our wedding weekend has now been cancelled we feel we have made the right decision.
