Couples getting married on September 3, 2020

on September 9, 2019 at 1:51 PM Posted in Planning 0 7
Hi everyone!

Congrats on your engagement! Since we are wedding date twins, I was curious to see how far along you all are in the wedding planning process. I feel a little overwhelmed now that we have reached the year mark as I have only hired 3 (almost 4) vendors so far and haven’t even began my dress shopping (I know I have time still) I’m a little nervous as I see so many people who have pretty much completed the planning process and they are getting married after me!

I look forward to hearing from all of you and maybe even get some recommendations! Thanks!

Xoxo Lisa

    Hey there Lisa!

Welcome to the WeddingWire community Smiley smile

It sounds like you’re totally on track, so try not to worry about what others have done. It reminds me of in school when you still had to start a project and a classmate was nearly finished!!

To ease your worries and help you not to get overwhelmed, I would recommend you check out and utilize the WeddingWire checklist tool. You can use this to check what should be done specific months out from your wedding date. It’s really helpful Smiley smile

What 3 vendors have you hired so far and what is outstanding?

We are getting married on Sept 3rd as it will be the 3rd anniversary of our first date.

So far my decision to hire a wedding planner has been the best yet. We are eloping to SC and she has been amazing.

Venue - booked, officiant - booked, appointments for hair/makeup set, car to transport from our hotel to venue set up as well as get away vehicle. Photography set up. as well as the cake. i have selected my bouquet but have not ordered it yet.

We are in the process of deciding on attire. Ring has been designed but not completed yet. \ Once its completed i will decide on the wedding band. He has told me what he wants so now i just need to get it designed or ordered.

Since we are both 60+ and it is our second marriages we are doing it low key. Probably going with sports coat, slacks etc vs suit as my sweetheart is a jeans type of man. I want him as comfortable as possible. I have no clue on my dress but have been looking.

We will have a reception after we return from SC and that will be at the same restaurant our first date took place if they can accommodate the crowd or at least have them cater it at our local community club house. Invitations for the reception will go out after all elopement is announced of course and those have been selected. Just need to get them completed with the actual date of the reception.

Pretty much making it as stress free, enjoyable and all about just us as possible. We made an earlier mistake of trying to please too many people with a larger destination wedding (all of our adult children, grandchildren live out of state) so we cancelled it and now doing it exactly our way.

Good luck and one thing to always keep in mind - please put more effort, thought, love and commitment into your marriage than you do your wedding.

    Hey Everyone,

I hope you are all staying safe. We recently postponed our wedding from May 25, 2020 to Sept 3, 2020. I am new to the Thursday wedding idea but feel like it will be okay because it is a holiday weekend. Anyone have any tips of what to keep in mind for a Thursday/holiday weekend wedding? When are you all having your rehearsal dinner?

    Hi fellow September 3rd brides.

I truly never believed that we would be facing COVID 19 concerns on the same level (and some areas worse)l in mid July as we were in mid April.

With that being said - our flights have been cancelled and our restaurant is at 50% but is unable to sell or serve liquor past 11PM. I am ok with all of this just concerned the governors will either move SC AND TX back to in-house pandemic status in the next week or so. Numbers in both continue to be some of the highest in the world. We live in TX and getting married in Charleston.

We are still planning on having our elopement ceremony in SC - as long as they let us travel from TX to SC and then back with no issues.

I wish everyone well and would love to hear how you are doing less than 60 days from our wedding date!

    Julie
