Couples Shower

Tori, on January 11, 2021 at 5:05 PM Posted in Parties and Events 1 9

Hey all!

So my mom is wanting to throw us a shower and we decided a couples' shower is the way to go -- since I want to make it about my FH and I and not just me. Though, I've never attended a couples' shower. Has anyone on here attended one or had one thrown for you? I have a few questions.

Such as, who all do you typically invite? Also, what do you do for entertainment?

Thanks!

Generally entertainment is mingling and eating. There may or may not be games. Plus gift opening.

The only ones invited are your closest people in your area who are on the wedding guest list.

We are having a virtual baby shower and it will be co-ed. We are inviting our friends and family members. Not entirely sure what all we will be doing. My guess is chatting, playing a game or two then open presents.

We’re having a couple’s shower and we’ve been to several! There’s usually small bites and apps along with bevs. Guests can either mingle and make their own fun, or you can have shower games! For fun shower games, you can google it and there are tons of examples.

As far as guest list, it just depends on how many showers you’ll have. We’re having a couple’s shower with our family and family friends (older age group 30s< ), then one with our close friend group!

We also did a couples shower! We had normal games like you would play at bridal shower, such as the shoe game. And a few other small ones. We had invited our entire bridal party plus the families of course! It was a lot of fun and everyone had a good time!

We had a couples shower! It was a luncheon for three hours in the afternoon—open beer/wine bar, a few passed apps (bacon wrapped scallops, crab cakes and Thai chicken spring rolls), a cold seafood bar with oysters and shrimp cocktail, and a hot buffet of flatbread, pasta and chicken. Plus donuts for dessert!

My now husband and I are not a fan of games so everyone just mingled and chatted. We also declined to open any gifts. Three hours was perfect!

    We had a couples' shower!

Our BP, parents, and a mixed group of friends (mostly couples) were invited. We still played a lot of the standard games, just revamped to be mixed group friendly. Also, there was a lot of chatting and hanging out - particularly because a few kids/babies were invited. (Our friends have started having small humans, and we love being around our niblings.)

Like you, it made more sense for the shower to be about *us* as a couple, not just me.

Done this with sister. We invited those closest and dearest to them and who the moms wanted. However....

It was basically all the women that showed. Some guys showed but it was mainly all female. Made BIL stick it out cause we told him hey those are gifts for you too and you can help bring them home.
My plan will be similar and I won't be surprised if it turns out to be mostly female. It just is what it is.

Thank you everyone! I got some wonderful ideas! Hopefully by August/September when we're planning for this, we'll be able to do this in person and not virtually.
