Covering hay bales

We are using hay bales at the wedding as seating for our guest. Thing is I am not sure how I want to cover them or if I even want to. Any ideas on a budget friendly way to cover hay bales??

Don't be discourage about using hay bales in your wedding! I just helped my niece with her wedding and we did bales for seating. We cut squares out of Eco-Fi felt and placed them catty-cornered on the bales. They were quite comfortable. Hay is not as "pokey" as straw thankfully and it worked out wonderfully. I encourage you to follow your dream if this is what you want. It was lovely and not uncomfortable at all!

I am going to use hay too. It is free and chair rentals are $3 plus a chair for a wedding with 130 guests that is WAY to expensive for some people to afford. I am also thinking about buying thick material to drape on the hay instead of blankets. I don't have any older people coming to my wedding so its not a issue that it is low to the ground. The wedding is at a ranch in the woods so allergens are going to be everywhere no matter what.
