Covering tattoos for wedding day?

Brittany, on January 21, 2017 at 10:27 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 38

I have been toying around with covering my tattoos on my wedding day. I have a beautiful strapless dress and wanted a clean classic look. I have a half sleeve, chest tattoo, and a large tattoo on my back. It is going to be expensive and time consuming day of. I am terrified that the makeup will transfer on my dress and possible onto my fiancé. The makeup artist is using an alcohol based air brush system. Any advice??

I would voice your concerns to your make up artist and then trust him/her to do their thing. Many make up artists I know have done make up on movie sets...which sometimes include tattoo cover up.

You might also consider hiring a separate make up artists who specializing is tattoo cover up if you're worried.

I would talk to the make up artist. Possibly see if they would be willing to cover a small area before your wedding so you can test it out. That way you'll know the possibility of the make up transferring.

I once knew a gal who had a chest piece and it looked AMAZING with her wedding dress. She has since gotten separated and took down her wedding photos or I would share a snap shot. I am all for rocking them! If you really want to cover them up, talk to you MUA.

    My advice?

Don't cover them. You'll still look classic and classy with your tattoos. They're part of who you are, why would you hide that on your wedding day?

The gal I have as my makeup artist does special effect makeup for different things so I thinks she's totally capable but the Haarlem of worrying about it coming off or looking blotchy by the end of the night is almost not worth it. I know my tats are a part of me but I always had a vision of me in a wedding dress and they were not in it lol. We will see how the trial run goes next weekend!

As the bride, I don't have any tattoos, but my maid of honor has a half leg that she's in the process of getting colored in. My dresses are knee length, and she asked me if I mind that her tattoo is showing. I told her that I wanted her to be my maid of honor, not her leg, so as long as she had the honor of standing up with me, she was absolutely free to be tatted self.

The way I see it, these are a part of you, and you were the one getting married. Doing anything for pictures, defeats the purpose of it being about you, it's not a Magazine spread, it's your wedding!

Let's your tattoos shine girl! Your FH loves the way you look and you didn't get tats for no reason. You can be classy and stunning in your wedding dress with your ink showing and no worry! It's your day to glow baby!!! Do it up! & don't stress the small stuff

I am sure they look great and would with your dress too! Having that much ink, I'm assuming you love tattoos and as PP have said they are part of you and show your personality...be proud of that. Your fiance loves you for who you are and what you look like (ink and all) so that will only add to your wedding day look rather than display someone you dont' really look like. I could see if you had one small tattoo you regretting getting back in "the day" but you obviously have a passion for ink right? I also have a back tat and doesn't take anything away from my gown but it is who I am so I am going to rock it and so should you. I would love to see a pic if you didnt mind sharing? Smiley smile

    Don't cover it!

My dress is basically backless and my back is covered with tattoos. I tried staying away from that style and wanted to be covered up. thought about makeup when I said yes to the dress. I told my FH, and he said I was outta my mind for even thinking about it.

In the end, it's what makes you YOU. Rock it, girl!

I would also love to see a pic of you in your dress. My sister who is one of my BMs, has a huge tattoo on her back that goes from both her shoulders down to her hips. We're doing an open back dress and I'm glad that she'll get to show it off. It's part of who she is. You may want to consider some kind of high neck bolero if your tattoos are not part of your vision that you could wear for the ceremony. It might be really tough to cover them with makeup and since your wedding is in August, you may have trouble keeping them covered if it gets hot.

Harleybeachbride you look fabulous! The funny thing is though, I did get all of my tattoos when I was 18/19 so...idk. I'm still on the fence. Here is a pic of my half sleeve.

If you want to cover them have your MUA do a test run and then check and see transfer onto a tee shirt or whatever. Or try our some products on your own. KVD foundation will cover tattoos, or tattoocamo. Or rock the tattoos. Your call.

I'm not covering my tattoo on my back. Like everyone else said...it's a part of who you are.

Just my opinion, but I compare covering tattoos to completely changing your hair color before the wedding. You are not portraying the real you and the you that your fiancé fell in love with.

Plus I would be terrified of the make up smudging off on the dress or other people.
