Covering tattoos?

Emma, on July 18, 2019 at 2:27 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 10
I have two tattoos on the insides of my arms that I want to cover up for my wedding day. It's not that I don't like them or that they're tacky, it's just both sides of my family and my fiancé's family are conservative and don't like tattoos and none of them know I have tattoos because they're easy to hide. I know if I were to show them (even though they're small) on my wedding day, it would be a topic of conversation I just don't want to have to deal with. I also know for a fact that it would be brought up by my parents and other people after my wedding day and they would make me feel bad about them and I don't want to have to deal with that forever. My dress is strapless and doesn't cover them. What are the best ways to cover up tattoos that won't rub off? They're black and all line work, but they're really hard to cover for some reason.

Are you getting your makeup done professionally? I believe my sister's makeup artist was able to cover hers with concealer and airbrush over it. Maybe they will have a suggestion Smiley smile

Otherwise, I've seen some articles online about the best concealers for covering tattoos. No personal experience here but maybe one of those will help.

I agree with Dayna! Ask your MUA to help you out!

A professional make up artist can cover them for sure. It'll cost extra though, especially dark black line work. If they're on the inside of the arms depending on how high they are there's a slight risk of rubbing off. You can try looking into capulets or capes that'd cover the arms/shoulders if you're nervous.

I'm thinking airbrush. There is specific water proof tattoo cover I just don't know about it rubbing off on clothing. Not sure about airbrush rubbing either.

I would be careful with using make up to cover them up because if you get hot and sweat it could come off on your dress.

Ok so I had this issue myself. I have arm tattoos my mom was so adamant about me covering and I didn't have a make up artist so I went to Sephora and the make up artist there showed me what they use for cover up of tattoos. It was a ton of layers by the way. So if you're doing it yourself then it's better to go to a store like Sephora or whatever that'll have people there that can guide you on what to get and do a sample on you too.

Mac has a line of pro makeup. They have a full coverage foundation. Be sure to set it!

During my Sephora work days I would get brides coming in to prepare their makeup kit for the big day. The best makeup to cover tattoos would be dermablend. They have a tattoo line but make sure you get the setting powder to make it last all day. It’s sold at Sephora, Macy’s and I believe Dillard’s. Also, a coworker during that time told me to trace the tattoo with a red liner because it dims out the black ink. This is another option if you have your own foundation and don’t want to purchase something new. Mind you this method will take a lot more steps than the dermablend. Sephora gives out three free samples a day. Stop by one get colored matched and ask for a sample of the foundation and the setting powder to try it @ home before you purchase it.

Try looking up videos on Youtube. They have a ton of videos that can help you and walk you through exactly what to do. This one was pretty good https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePZyyRtgFu0. Good luck!
