Covering the trash cans...?

Charlotte T., on October 12, 2011 at 12:49 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 9

Our venue it gorg, but they have three or four big grey plastic trash cans that will be sitting around the reception area. I feel like they will be a big eye sore with all the DIY work I'm putting into the decor.

Any suggestions on how to cover or disguise them? Our wedding is rustic chic. Colors are neutrals with pops of apple green and light turquoise. White linens with burlap runners, etc.

    Maybe throw burlap over them!

Burlap around them would match great! Maybe tie them with a ribbon in your colors.

I was actually just roaming around a friend's reception venue the other day helping brainstorm ideas for decor and I realized she has giant trash cans too! Shes doing BBQ w/ disposable plates/ flatware/ napkins so obviously they are necessary but they were kind of an eye sore. I'm interested to see what people recommend.

I think a burlap wrap is a great idea. Maybe I'll just wrap a couple yards around them and fasten then with string or jute. Thanks!

Here's a different take on the subject...many times brides want to decorated some kind of eyesore thinking it will look better. Most times, that only draws attention to the eyesore. I always suggest trying to camouflage the offending object to make it disappear instead. For example, if your venue has cream colored walls, wrap them in cream colored fabric or plastic for a cheaper option. Then they will blend in with the room and most likely go unnoticed.
