I’m struggling here! We have planned a wedding for October 24 and I’m afraid I’m going to have to postpone because of Covid... is anyone else worried about this?? Do I keep it scheduled and wait?

Joining in as a fellow October 24 wedding! We're planning for our Pittsburgh, PA wedding and won't make any postponing plans until July (when the invitations would go out). I'm already plotting out plans A through Z, but for now it's just an anxious waiting game. Fingers crossed!

I’m 10/10 and I’m waiting until mid July to make a decision. I reached out to my vendors to see what plans they have in place. My wedding is in New Rochelle, NY but about 90% of my guests including me live in NYC. It’s a slow start to re open because we were hit so hard.

I intend to get married on that day no matter what if we have to postpone. But just postponing the reception. I really hope it works out because my fiance and I want to start a family soon after getting married but I also want to be able to have a reception before I start that stage of my life.
See what your vendors say, talk to your guests and go from there.

My wedding is still scheduled 10/10 but will not be in Vegas anymore. we just cancelled with all of our vendors. Thank God we got full refunds for everything but we went ahead and cancelled because 1: we live in Cali and a lot of guests who were flying in from all over and older fam just doesnt feel comfortable flying (I totally understand that.) 2: all the uncertainty was too much and people’s flights /hotels were on hold and I didn’t want to do that to my guests. We are still moving forward with our 10/10 date and marrying in our back yard with 20 guests spaced out and food catered and hope to do either a 1 year vow renewal so everyone can attend. Will have to keep playing things by ear.

I am getting married on October 17, 2020. The plan right now is to keep it all planned as normal, we plan on making a decision in August if we will just do something smaller. We aren’t cancelling or postponing though.

    Hi!
We are getting married in Seattle indoors 10/10/20. We are moving forward for now without postponing unless the venue restricts based on state guidelines. We only have 75 total invited and anticipate our attendance to be low, lots of guests are traveling. It was a very hard decision for us recently (lots to tears and difficult conversations). We are moving to east coast next year, so if we postpone, I’d have to plan an entirely new wedding in another state and lose all deposits for our venue and vendors. Also, it’s important to us that we get married sooner rather than postpone 2 years (we were already engaged 2.5 years). We have just accepted the new normal of our day. That said, we are not big party people and felt like we were planning more of a formal dinner party with music than a wedding. That helped us when evaluating the dancing or social distancing. We also talked about planning big vow renewal in 5-10 years with a large group for people who couldn’t be there. Either way, I empathize with all brides out there because this is not easy.

I'm in a similar situation - also getting married in October. I live in NJ and right now only outdoor weddings are allowed, but hoping things will start opening up. We are planning to get married no matter what, but aren't sure whether to plan a smaller modified/socially distanced reception or move the party to next year.

Assuming the guidelines allow for it where you live, how are people planning to move forward with weddings in a safe manner? Do you think people will feel comfortable wearing masks, except for eating? Any other suggestions for creative ideas to make the reception still feel special and fun, even with COVID restrictions?

There's no one "right" answer, but it's certainly stressful deciding the best way forward!

Would you mind sharing what types of additions you are thinking to make it covid-friendly? Are you planning to provide guests with masks? I'm struggling to envision what this might look like! Thanks so much!

I’m waiting until closer to August/September to see how things are then! If needed, I’ll have hand sanitizer and masks for the guests... as of right now my ceremony is outside and the reception is inside. The venue holds 350 and is now able to do 50% capacity! I shouldn’t have more than 100 attending, so I should be good if we’re still in this phase... I’m slightly worried about a second wave, but trying not to stress about it too much...

What are the guidelines right now in NJ? What phase are you in?

NJ is in phase 2 so right now outdoor dining is opening back up, along with salons and retail stores. Weddings are allowed outdoors but no indoor weddings yet. My venue is also pretty large, so I think we should be able to space out indoors, once that's allowed. I don't mind the masks, but it's hard to predict how people will feel about attending a large gathering by then! Also trying not to stress about a second wave..
