For recent COVID brides- how has the name change process been for you? I think this has been more stressful than my wedding 😂 My problem is the SSA offices aren’t accepting name change appointments and obviously no walk-in’s, but I can’t just mail my crucial documents and be without my driver’s license for weeks! What is everyone doing given the circumstances? I don’t have a valid passport (mine expired) so I only have a driver’s license and birth certificate. I’m concerned that having my married name on my husband’s health insurance and not having that reflected on my ID may cause some issues, of which I need to deal with soon given I need to transfer my medications to his. I’m in Maryland if anyone has done this process there.

Did you send a self addresses stamped envelope? My husband called the Boston office on Friday and they didn't say it was necessary, but given that I'm sending them my original documents, I'm kind of nervous about doing it wrong.

Although it did work out, they did not update my name the way I requested on my application. I wanted my maiden name to be my middle name, but they used my given middle name instead so my maiden name is not apart of my new name right now. Government can’t do anything right I’m so annoyed.

I’m having the same issue with not trusting documents being sent out and the major issues are I’m on SSD and SSI. As well as snap and other things that have to be adjusted because of marriage and combination of income and basically it’s fault if I end up owing them anything back and mailing the documents is at my discretion 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

My local SSA office only required marriage license and the form to be mailed in. No drivers license. I made my appointment with DMV a month before the wedding because they were so far booked out.
