Covid brides! Late reception

McKenzie, on October 16, 2020 at 6:09 PM Posted in Planning 0 5
My husband and I got married in April on our original date. It was important to us that we didn’t postpone the ceremony so rather we just postponed the reception and had a small intimate ceremony with only our immediate family. We are having our reception a year later almost to the day as a one year anniversary party. I’m having a hard time figuring out if we should do any of the classic wedding reception stuff we skipped or if we should pick a theme? I’m just trying to make sure it’s not tacky and people aren’t going to grumble about it. Any advice is welcome as long as it’s kind!

I think if you want to do a full reception with all the wedding things you missed out on your family and friends would be more than happy to celebrate with you. Celebrate however you want!!

Make the reception how you want it. Dont do things based off concern about what others will think.

Totally agree! We had a local reception (only three months later), and went all out—drinks, dinner, wedding cake, band, first dances. We just skipped the ceremony part.

Many receptions have themes, now. Plan the party *you* want, and ignore Pinterest.

If you want to do the full reception then go for it. Do whatever you two want!
