Has anyone done this and it look and feel right even though it wasn’t the original plan?

I would not do or participate in something like this. Seeing even my best friend or sister married this way would mean nothing to me. I would rather know they had a nice, private romantic wedding, and told me about it in the future, than go see them on exhibit, a drive in show, which I would not relate to at all.

I haven’t seen a drive in for a wedding but have seen a lot of people doing zoom weddings!

I'd rather watch it online at home than sitting far away in my car.

Haven’t seen it & I probably wouldn’t go. What could I really see from afar? I would do a zoom one than a drive in.

My friend got married in june, and played a live stream through youtube.. had said previously that he would have a drive through reception 2 hrs later.. giving people time to get to church.. so we got dressed up and drove down ... bride and groom greeted everyone and handed out cupcakes in a cute box.. it was neat

I like the cupcakes idea....that way they can still have “cake” and feel apart of it! I’m not familiar with working on YouTube , and I’ll definitely look into that!

Was there a need to set up extra stuff for sound?

I totally get what you mean. I’ve seen images of people setting up blow-up screens usually for movies and people and then see that.

Then the catering brought out their food orders and drinks to them.
One picture I saw, they had the cars backed up and formed in a circle so everyone can see and eat and celebrate near the cars and or at a distance.

No worries. 😊 Yes you watch from afar but with a movie screen (blow up ones aren’t too expensive). Here is a picture

Like this but with a blow up movie screen and projector and a radio station (free for a day) that you tune into.

Very similar to this idea. Show up to the event. Order food, tune in on the radio, watch it live and on the screen. Cars are spaced out So you can get out and sit in provided chairs if you’d like. https://www.concertsinyourcar.com/

Totally get that the idea is different and not common at the moment.

Interesting! I think it’s kind of neat... I would say it depends on weather though. I would not sit in my car if it’s hot or cold out or raining lol if they bring their own chairs, why not just have distanced rented tables and chairs for the guests if they’re getting out of their vehicles anyways. Either way, it could possibly work!

Yes very good point. We definitely will have chairs and tables provided for us at the venue (ranch).

Maybe a band for people to listen to?

I get what you are saying. It is definitely NOT ideal or our first choice design wise. It does have to do with how we met and watching a movie on our first date. 🤷🏼‍♀️
It is too bad you wouldn’t even support family .

Sorry it has taken me awhile to get back to you... no, he said he had several friends just use their smartphones and video taped the wedding, and then one guy edited them all together and posted it on youtube a few days later, the church used their own sound system i think, and someones phone to video tape it and made a live video for people that. or an ipad to live film it right onto youtube.
