Covid invitation

Natalie, on April 9, 2021 at 6:20 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 16
Sooo Im pretty sure my venue is going to have guests get tested within 72 hours to ensure covid safety. Some guests of mine have expressed their own opinions about not wanting to get tested while others dont care and are ok with it. What do you think is the best way to include in invitations the fact that they need to get tested.

I would have a little insert about it in your invitation. Is this something the venue is requiring because the state is requiring testing?

Oh that’s definitely not a rumor, NY requires testing. Here’s some information: https://www.governor.ny.gov/news/governor-cuomo-announces-wedding-receptions-and-catered-events-can-now-resume-statewide

I would have an insert in your invitation stating that guests are required to be tested due to the state of NY requirement for weddings. You will need to get with your venue to figure out the details first though (like will guests have to submit tests in advance by email? Bring them to the wedding in order to get in? How long before the wedding can they get tested?) so you can have all these details for your guests.

We are also sending our covid safety notes that go into more details and we also cover this in our FAQs on our wedding website. Basically that they need proof of vaccination 14 days post second dose/ 14 days posts 1 dose JJ or neg covid test. PCR neg results within 72 hours of wedding or rapid within 6 hours of wedding. Luckily our venue has onsite testing that’s free and rapid and totally a life saver for those guests whose results are delayed or who forget

By November the code will include vaccination, and no one knows how much monitoring of testing. Much will depend on location. A state with 80 percent vaccinated and 12% who had it, will be different from one where 65% are vaccinated, and there are a high number of travelers or tourists. If you intend to enforce whatever code is in place, tell people now and on save, but print it, just a photocopy not part of invitation suite, ( and tell people you will) in Sept when you send the invitation. People get all upset discussing it, not worth doing since it will change.

Sorry what do you mean by - the code will include vaccination? Meaning it will be mandatory?

Those vaccinated would likely be given a pass, and those who have had it. Gov concern is preventing spreader events. If half of those attending a 200 person event are not covered by vaccine or having it, gov could require testing. If 5 of 100 are not, some may be unable to be vaccinated, and they will not force either vaccination or testing if only 5 people max could get it. Ground rules for vaccines and mandatory testing will change, depending on the percentage vaccinated in a local area.

My wedding is in September in CA. I’m adding a health and safety page to our website and right now it says we’ll follow all regulations and please check back closer to the event. Requirements are bound to change by this fall, so we need to be flexible. Closer to the event we may email all the guests regarding the regulations if there are special requirements, ie testing . We’ve had to postpone twice, so we have everyone’s email addresses.

I would just say covid testing required before attending. My only concern is that where I live, you cannot get covid tested without symptoms so it may be difficult for them to get tested. Also, people may not want to spend money to get tested just to come.

How many people are you expecting. In NY if you have 100 or less guests you do not have to do the testing.
