Covid issues

Brooke, on January 5, 2021 at 7:03 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 4
My wedding isn’t until June 12, 2021 but i just called my salon to book my hair and makeup trial for the end of March. They informed me they are not doing makeup trials because of Covid right now. This sent me into a panic because I have been in 2 weddings this past year and was able to get my makeup done in Covid guidelines.

I’m not sure if I should call and ask for a definite answer for my wedding day about makeup, and if they can’t tell me, asking for my deposit back. I fully understand the Covid fear but I booked them for specific services. I’m just worried I won’t be able to find another company for hair and makeup as 2021 is now a busy wedding year.

Any advice on what to do?

My HMUA did my trial so honestly I would not risk it. I would tell them you understand their concerns but prefer not to chance anything the day of your wedding (I have seen two brides question or dislike their hair and make up day of -- no trial) so you would prefer to work with a place that will offer trials during this time. Before cancelling with them I would find a place that can honor your date.

I wouldn't risk it. I recommend you book elsewhere. Also, look on thumbtack.com for hamu services

That’s really tough! And I’m a little surprised they are turning down appointments that far away!!

Can you ask if they’d do a partial trial where you keep your mask on and they just do your hair and your wedding makeup from the eyes up? Or can they schedule a May trial as a placeholder (and re-evaluate closer to the appointment date)?? I’d see if they could agree to a compromise like this!

Thanks for the advice! I ended up booking a different company because the original one still wouldn’t give me a straight answer. Here’s to less stress 🥂
