Covid Make-up

J, on September 13, 2020 at 3:04 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 20
What is the general consensus about getting make up done during Covid? I am not capable of doing my own make up but I am aware that I will have to remove a mask while having it done. I’m not quite sure if I’m comfortable with this. What are most other brides doing?

Do you have bridesmaids? Are they good with make up? My bff has a bridesmaid that’s really good with make up so she’s helping everyone with it

Many makeup artists on Thumbtack.com have posted that they have special training/certification to be in compliance with Covid safety procedures, so definitely ask about that.
Not everyone is comfortable doing their own makeup, which is ok. Unless you spring for higher end makeup, what many women use everyday is not designed for professional photography. If you can, get a professional makeup artist with Covid certification.

Unfortunately, none of them really are into make up. They would have wanted somebody to do their make up as well. I’ve watched tutorial after tutorial and I can’t seem to learn to do my own make up. Unless of course I want to look like a clown LOL

I hired a professional to do my hair and makeup. It’s my wedding so I’m going to be pampered and have zero plans to do my own hair/makeup.

Most makeup artists are adapting to the new Covid requirements. I just had mine done for my wedding and she wore a mask, extra sanitized everything, and took my temperature and hers. I felt pretty safe honestly

I mean, you're having a wedding. I don't really understand how you're okay with a group gathering, but not taking a mask off for a few minutes. If I was that concerned, I would postpone the wedding.

I'm not telling you to do this....I don't care either way. I have been to a wedding this year and went on my bachelorette last week. But if *you* are that concerned, postpone.

I’m doing my own but if I were getting it done I would definitely bring my own brushes and makeup. I know this could be a bit to purchase but I would definitely recommend it.

My MUA sent me a new contract a couple months ago that reflects all of her updated procedures due to COVID. She always took cleanliness and sanitation seriously, but now it’s even more spelled out and she has additional requirements. Because of this, I feel completely comfortable getting my makeup done (I will have to wear a mask while she’s applying eye makeup, but not foundation or lipstick of course).

I will have an MUA, and I will discuss what she is using and buy every single make up thing just to avoid the nasty covid virus. I am just trying to avoid it as best as I could.

Unfortunately you will have to take your mask off to get your makeup done. If you're not comfortable with that, then I would do your own makeup Smiley smile

Oh I'm definitely getting my makeup done! I even went and had a trial. My makeup artist wore her mask the entire time. Professional makeup is preferred for great pictures. If you are concerned about the pictures or the pictures are important I would highly encourage getting your makeup professionally done.

I had my hair and makeup done. I took my mask off when my hair was being washed and when she was putting the makeup on, except for my eyes/lashes. The only people in the room were me, my mom, and the people who did our hair and makeup. I think I would've felt very uncomfortable if there were other unmasked people in the same room as us. This is probably a situation where if you're nervous, it's worth paying extra to have them come to you. Alternatively, you could have the professional person do your eye makeup, but then put on your own lipstick and foundation when you get home so you don't have to take your mask off in the salon.
