Covid Postponement (for the 4th time . . . . )

Kris, on December 10, 2020 at 10:26 AM Posted in Planning 0 14

SO. St Louis County has tightened their restrictions down to 10 people at an event, so we are looking at postponing YET AGAIN. I wouldn't mind having a small ceremony in February then have something bigger later on, but FH is older and adamently against having a small wedding. We are thinking May, June, or July for the new date. Anyone have any input on which month would be the best to do this?????

. . . stupid CoVID.

Unfortunately, I think 2021 is going to be a mess as well. Lots of unpredictability. If you want to be really certain you don’t have to postpone again, I would push the date to Spring 2022.

I recommend the summer or fall where everyone can be outside. You may have to switch it to an outdoor venue.

I agree with Chrysta. To avoid potentially having to postpone again after this time, I would postpone until 2022.

If you aren't willing to sacrifice any of your plans (which is totally understandable!), honestly I would avoid 2021 altogether. While smaller, modified weddings can and should continue to take place, I don't see us returning to "conventional" weddings anytime soon.

Totally agree with Chrysta. Unfortunately, there just is no telling how well 2021 will go. This is what made my FH and I decide on a 2022 wedding after we got engaged. I think that year will be better (fingers crossed) and safer for planning a wedding. A spring wedding in 2022 like Chrysta mentioned might be your safest bet at this point!

    Sending hugs. Smiley heart

I totally agree with this...I just feel like there's absolutely no way this will be under control by 2021. We were set for September 2020, now March 2021 and our city just slammed us with the 25 max gathering count so yeah...I honestly can't even get mad anymore. It's just life right now.

I live in NY and I don't expect there to be much of an improvement in terms of restrictions lifted here until late 2021 at the earliest. I spoke with my daughter's teacher this morning and I asked her if the kids will be back in school soon and she said no. She said the absolute earliest that she thinks that will happen would be May/June and probably not until Sept 2021. So I think that the farther out you can push your date the better.

After 4 postponements, I would forget about a big wedding and just elope or have a small ceremony. Your guests are probably thinking the same thing every time t hey get a postponement announcement.

If you decide to postpone, yet again, I would schedule for late 2021. Hopefully by then the vaccine will have been out for several months and things will be improving.

4th time? Good lord, NOPE. Our wedding is September 10th and rather than EVER postpone, I would just a.) Follow the size restrictions or b.) Elope. I want to get married to my FH. Not keep putting it off. Luckily, my FH is of the same mind.

With all due respect to your FH, he might want to reconsider his priorities: a big shindig or finally just making you his wife.

But to each their own. Good luck!

Omg if I had to postpone 4 times I would just cancel mine lol. I say push it out as far as you can in 2021 so you won't risk having to postpone a 5th time

Our original date was 6/19/21... .we just pushed to 6/18/22. I don't think weddings as we know them will happen until vaccines are widely distributed... based on the CDC info it seems like that won't be a reality until late 2021 Smiley sad

I would personally move to 2022 if you can :/

I was originally a June 2020 bride. We originally moved to Dec of this year, in August we realized that wasn’t happening so we pushed to Dec 2021. If that doesn’t happen it is what it is. We have been legally married for months now-go get courthouse married. If he wants to marry you, he will with just you and the JOP.
