Covid precautions card inside invitations?

Richaelyn, on May 12, 2021 at 2:12 PM Posted in Planning 0 15
Should I include a covid precautions card inside my invitations? The card would look like a normal details/enclosure card and it will list the covid precautions and/or rules that will be in place at the wedding. I’m thinking maybe this will make people feel better about coming however, I’m also thinking once they receive the invite... it could put a damper on their excitement when opening. Like, they could be excited about the invite then as they open it, they would quickly be reminded about the pandemic and maybe decide not to come. What do y’all think?

I think it is a great idea! I don't think it would cause anyone who wants to come not to

I think the enclosure card is a good idea, but I would instead direct them to your website for up to date information. The situation is changing constantly, and at least in my state, the governor is announcing new things every week or so. Therefore, your information may be out of date by the time they get the invitations in the mail and by the time the wedding rolls around. A website page would allow you to provide a more accurate explanation. As far as being bummed out, it's still pretty clear we're in a pandemic so I don't know how many people would open it and be like "oh yeah, that's a thing."

I have a page on my website that says “covid precautions” as well. I was thinking about including them again inside the invitation just in case people don’t make it to the website. Should I do both?

I don't think anyone would be put off by it, but in my opinion, I just don't think this is necessary anymore. If I got an invitation with a separate covid precaution card I would think "Yay a wedding invitation!" and the separate card would have me say "yes, we know, we know" because we have been using these precautions for over a year now. Unless you will be following stricter rules than your state regulations, everyone should already know what to expect. But if you think your guests would find it helpful, I say go for it!

You could. On the printed card in the invitation, I would still maybe have a line that says "for the most up to date precautions, please visit our website at [url]," since it's likely that state regulations may change from the time you print the card to the wedding day. I guess it depends on the state. I'm in NJ, and we still have some pretty heavy restrictions that are slowly being lifted.

I would just direct them back to your website. That will allow you to also be more nimble with any new or expired precautions between ordering invites and your wedding day.

I think it is a great idea to let your guests know what the protocol is but I think if you send it with your invitations, the information won't be relevant at the time of your wedding with the way things are changing. I would put a note on your details card telling guests to check your website for the most up to date information. If you don't have one maybe an email or text message to your guests closer to the wedding will work.

Yes, I have a wedding website and on the website I have a page that lists my venue’s wedding covid precautions. So instead of listing all the precautions on the card, I could put something like “ for the most up to date precautions, please visit our website at [url].”

Yes, I would direct guests to your site for covid precautions. Sadly, it's not safe to addume that everyone is taking precautions

I did insert a Covid card with the requirements in my invitation as well as have a Covid link on our wedding website. We listed the website on our save the dates as well as the invitation. Out of 133 save the dates and invitations that have gone out 27 people have visited the site 🤷🏽‍♀️ Some people aren’t into going to a website which is strange to me since you can access it from your phone but I’m glad that I did include a Covid card in the invitation. Some things have changed/loosened (we are in NY), but it’s pretty much still the same since we sent our invitations in March, Covid testing if you are not fully vaccinated and facial coverings.

We went back and forth about this and decided not to include COVID precautions, but we did encourage those who were concerned to visit the hotel's website so they would have the most up to date information. Hope that helps Smiley smile

Include the card. Not everyone will visit the website.

This is a wonderful idea! You can put the main details and rules and specify that people need to review the website for more details.
