Covid Precautions

Emma, on June 22, 2020 at 12:55 PM Posted in Community Conversations 3 13
I contacted my venue and we are (as of now) moving forward as planed for our October 3rd wedding (yay!!). As of now mask are not required but are still recommended and social distancing is also recommended but not “required”. I am trying to taking of ways to keep everyone at the wedding safe. We are planning on doing the tables solely by households. I was thinking of offing some mask in the wedding colors and having hand sanitizer on each table. The problem is making it cute 😂 I was thinking of changing the labels of the sanitizers to say something like “weddings are fun, germs are not” but definitely need more suggestions on wording! Trying to figure out how to do the dance floor. We also signed our catering contract as a buffet but do not know if that will change or not. It’s like $10 per person to change from buffet to seated. Any other covid Percautions we should take?

That's super cute if you changed the wording of the label!

well if you keep buffet it can still be ok if there are servers there that way guests are not serving themselves

What do you think about the mask? I don’t really have a preference on if the guest have to wear mask or not. FH says if they feel like they need/want one they will bring it.

I think the idea of you providing some there if they want it would be kind of nice actually but you're right - if they want to bring it, they will have it. for instance i always just keep one precautionary in my purse anyway

Some other things to think about - the bar situation. If you have 100+ people attending, you might want to ask if your venue will accomodate a second bar station to reduce the lines at the bar. Another is the cake - maybe have a small cut cake for the couple and afterwards bring out pre-cut pre-packaged slices of cake from the caterer? Just a couple of good ideas I have heard from others in this forum.

We are doing cupcakes for guest and a small cake to cut, have been from the beginning. I didn’t even think about the bar. I know we are having 2 bar tenders, I’ll have to contact them closer to the date and see about another bar.

That’s true. I know I personally won’t be wearing due asthma (not trying to have an asthma attack on my wedding day 😅)

If you were a guest would you prefer personal hand sanitizers as a favor (weren’t planning on favors), like from bath and body works, or one big one one each table?

I would love the personal ones as favors !! but that might be really costly for you though as a host to do those.

That is true. If I can find somewhere to get them in bulk I might just do it

    There it is!

I would also provide masks, though. I know people will likely bring them if they want one, but what if it gets dirty? Or they forget because weddings make you forget things?

Sounds like you've got this under control.

Hahah I love that! "Keep it clean" could also be funny! Smiley laugh

One other thing I've been thinking about is guest books! Instead of having everyone touch and sign the same thing, what about having a videographer record short messages from each of your guests? I saw some really good alternative ideas in this discussion: Guest book options.
