Covid testing? Tracking guest results?

Twinsiesmum, on February 17, 2022 at 7:06 PM Posted in Planning 0 15
I’m not sure what I really want to do to keep my guest safe. Is anyone requiring Covid test before the wedding? If so how are you tracking the results? I just want everyone to be as safe as possible. I will have a hand sanitizer and mask station.

We are not requiring covid tests. We considered encouraging people to do a RAT test if they so choose, but we wouldn't monitor results either way - if they did bother to do a RAT test and got a positive result, they could just as easily fake their result if they were that determined to come - at some point, you have to assume that the people you love will do the right thing.

Plus frankly, who has time to go through however many results there are? In our case it would be 90 people - I don't want to spend the day before my wedding looking at that many covid test results and chasing up people who haven't responded, etc!

We are most likely to simply send out our week-out communication reiterating what we had in our invite details - that we appreciate our guests' decision to be fully vaccinated to protect our immunocompromised guests and that if they do feel unwell or are suffering from covid symptoms, to join us via our livestream.

Yes it's super tough for sure, and everyone has different levels of tolerance for risk, so you just have to do what feels right for you and your guests!

We're putting a note on our website that we strongly encourage people to take a test before the wedding. We also already know that 173 out of our 176 guests are vaccinated, so it's not a big concern.

We are requiring the covid vaccine (plus our venue mandates it), and we are asking all guests to get a negative covid test within 3 days of the event. We have to have people at the door checking vax cards, so they will also ask each guest if they received a negative covid test. If they say they did, we trust that and are not requiring proof of the negative test. If they did not get tested or their results aren't back yet, we will have some covid tests onsite for them to go outside or to the bathroom to take.

So short answer, Vax required, and verbally confirm a negative test result.

We're requiring full vaccination for all guests in attendance who are eligible, including children. We're asking for photos of their cards. (If necessary, our wedding isnt for another year so we're hopeful we wont have to worry about it) If we were asking for testing I would probably ask for photos of their tests and maybe stock some rapids at the door in case you live in an area where theyre difficult to find.

This is something I need to discuss with my fiancé. Personally, I would feel most comfortable with knowing our (adult) guests are vaccinated, and asking for proof of vaccinations at the door. We'll be having quite a few kids in attendance, and I want to make sure they're as safe as possible. In my experience, the people in my life who are vaccinated are the ones being the most cautious and considerate. I'm hoping our venue will require it, but if we're not getting married until next year, proof may not be "required" ... but I'll probably still want it.
