Covid Wedding and place settings?

Zahraa, on January 15, 2021 at 10:56 AM Posted in Planning 0 5

Hello everyone - I'm getting married on 2/28/2021 in Decatur, TX and wanting some Covid wedding ideas.

we are having a buffet for the wedding (servers will be serving the food though and will have a few people lining up at a time) but we are thinking about placing the plates on the table so one one is touching others plate. would that be weird for buffet style?

for the silverware, we are also thinking about wrapping them individually. but not sure where they should be placed? on the table by the plates or by the food?

I'm struggling to figure this out and the reason why I'm stressed because the venue will set up the napkins for us on the tables so wouldn't having individually wrapped utensils is weird?

For brides who got married during covid, can you share your ideas and how did you figure all of this out to keep your guests safe? what did you do about the cake cutting, did you have individual cakes and where did you place the plates and forks for the cake?

Can you have attendants hand out plates as guests line up for the buffet? I would wrap the silverware in the napkin and put them at each place setting.

I wouldn't recommend buffet style at all. If possible, consider having a few people serve the food as they come through a line

Hi!! We did have the silverware wrapped at each individual seat for our covid wedding. Our venue was very covid strict (which we appreciated). Our venue did not allow us to have open silverware, plates on tables, not even chargers or menus for fear of a guest walking by and sneezing. Although we did a plated meal, I recommend a gloved staff member handing each guest their own plate for dinner and handing them their own cake plate. We were allowed to cut our cake, but venue had to cut it and distribute individually. Hope this helps!! ❤️

We went to a covid wedding and they had buffet style. Guests were called by table, the caterer had staff with masks and gloves on. The staff would hand you your plate and ask what you'd like from the buffet. Silverware was wrapped and placed at each place setting on the tables. It went smoothly and worked great!

Having the plate and silverware at the table is what we'll do. Guests will be called to the buffet line table by table and be served their food. Masks and gloves will be used by the caterer and we will also ask that our guests wear a mask when they go up for food. We'll still cut our cake, but won't be offering to guests. Instead, we have decided on a cupcake wedding favor - the flavor of our wedding cake. That way, they can still enjoy a "taste of our love".
