Just Said Yes August 2020

covid

Hi,

I have a question? Has anyone gotten married in the Bucks County area recently and have had to wear their masks the entire time? My venue just reached out to me and I am supposed to get married on 12/05/2020, and told me my guests have to wear masks even on the dance floor. I was originally supposed to get married in August of 2020 but had to change the date due to COVID. I feel like my venue has not communicated changes at all. Can anyone help me?

Thank you!

I mean...the dance floor is where people would be closest, so I feel like that makes total sense? Your venue is probably waiting until closer to your wedding date to communicate their requirements because they’re going to change 10 times before then. I would wait until 2-3 weeks out and follow up again.

What are your state rules? I would check those & assume that your venue is, at minimum, following those. It's possible they have additional rules, & that is frustrating if those weren't communicated--but things are also changing so frequently that they probably didn't want to have to tell you one thing only to have it be different closer to the day of.

I haven't been to any weddings recently but I've seen quite a few posted on Facebook, and most have been fully masked. My state (Mass) requires masks pretty much at all times unless you're eating, definitely if you're inside, & any time you're in a space outside with over 10 people but cannot social distance. No dance floors or mingling is allowed here, so I would say masked dance floor is a good deal & makes a lot of sense.

They're probably just following your state/county regulations - I would stay up to date on those. Many states aren't even allowing dancing at weddings. You should research the regulations and set some sort of alert if you want to know every time it changes. Unfortunately, things aren't trending in a positive direction as far as not needing masks.

Unfortunately this sounds par for the course for PA, especially if you're in a city. They are probably following the regulations as they could get shut down if they don't.

I would try to postpone again or, depending on the refund situation, see if you could find a more flexible venue.

FYI - not sure if you know this, but PA's restrictions are currently being heard by a Federal appeals court. A lower court judge ruled the restrictions were unconstitutional, but Wolf was able to get a stay allowing them to continue while the case was heard at the appellate level. A lot of things are up in the air.

I’m getting married in Coatesville January and I can assure you I will not be wearing a mask! $24,000 in wedding expenses I’m definitely not wearing a mask during my first dance dinner or afterwards my guests can do whatever but I’m not wearing one lol 😂
