Crappy Jeweler or Just Bad Luck?

Hello Everyone!
I am a little annoyed. I got engaged on March 4th. I seem to be having one problem after another with my ring. Within a month of wearing it (I have a silicone ring for the gym) my ring cracked at the base. So I took it in and it took two weeks to repair that and resize it a size down. I was sized back in January at the jeweler. They told me I was a size 6. My engagement ring was sized to a six but didn’t fit, however, when I went to get it resized the rings they size with in six fit me. She swore up and down my ring was sized to a six though and that I needed a 5.5. The sizer ring in 5.5 was really tight but I trusted her. This counted as one of my free resizings but it just seemed to have been sized wrong in the first place OR they told me I was the wrong size. Either way it cost me a resizing which is disappointing and now I only have one free one left. On top of that, Now I have lost one of my diamonds out of my halo. I am devastated. I feel like I’m doing something wrong. I just got my ring back from them for repairing the crack 3 days ago and now I have to bring it back. I am crushed. Now I have to part with it again…. Is all this normal? Did we pick a bad jeweler? I’m super disappointed but maybe it’s just bad luck….
