crazy mind

Alexis Hosley, on April 30, 2020 at 2:42 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

Hey everyone!

We are 4 months out from our wedding date! (Minus a few days). I feel like my mind is running like crazy and I can't focus on ONE task and complete it before moving on. That is what I'd like to do- However my mind is so crazy that I get maybe 1/4 the way done with one task before starting 3 more and then circling back around... Does anybody else feel like this? Are there any tips? I already have a task list that I cross off and what not but I just can't seem to focus on one thing at a time!

Any suggestions will be appreciated!

Maybe just take out the materials you need to work on that one task until you’re done with it and then move onto the next? Maybe seeing everything makes your mind run and feel like you can’t focus on the one task

The way I dealt with this was just giving myself deadlines of when things had to be done by. Like even if it was an arbitrary deadline. Does it really matter which gets done first, guest book vs. signs? No, but if I assign myself the guest book to be due on 5/10 and the signs due 5/20, I'll focus on the guest book first.

What really helped me too was making a calendar and writing the deadlines on the calendar. Then I was able to see what was coming up and where I was spreading myself too thin. I didn't start this until like 6 weeks before the wedding but I wished I had done it sooner. But it helped me visualize the time I had left, and I noticed things like, I was expecting myself to get 10 things done by a certain Sunday, but if I actually left my "deadlines" like that, it never realistically all would've gotten done in that weekend, so I spread stuff out and figured out which things I could do during the week, which things I could do an earlier weekend, etc.

If this helps, here's like a 2 week snippet of my calendar/to-do list and how I organized it (everything is highlighted yellow when it was complete which obviously it all is by now lol). Pink was me, blue my husband, and black both of us.

I totally agree with Gen - give yourself deadlines, make it color-coded, whatever grabs your attention daily and makes you focus on completing that task!

Have you tried a post-it on your door or bathroom mirror?
