NEVER EVER buy Silhouette/Cricut brand vinyl unless you want to rip your hair out.

Oracal for vinyl, Siser Easyweed for HTV.

I told my fiancé the other day that I'm so glad i have one. It's totally worth the money. I've made tons of signs, labeled envelopes, etc. with it for the wedding.

Abso-fucking-lutely worth it. I am DIY-ing my invites, my STDs, stuff for BMs, etc. I am a teacher so I do also use it for my classroom but the wedding alone is enough. I did however split the cost with my BFF so we switch off it's "custody" when one of us has a big project.

Love it. But it can get expensive. I make vector files on adobe illustrator and import them into the cricut design program. I had it before we got engaged. If you are just buying it for your wedding, I doubt you'll save that much money. But if you'll use it afterwards, it's definitely worth the investment.

Where else do you guys get your vinyl from? I'm new to having a Cricut and have only used Cricut brand vinyl :/ I have never had issues with it though, but if there is something better for cheaper I would love to try it out.

I get my vinyl most of the time from vinyl world 651 - they usually have good specials. There's a bunch of random websites I might order from if they have sales or unique vinyl. But Vinyl world has super fast shipping-usually get it within 2 days.

P.S. I'm not advertising, just giving my opinion based off my experience.

Honestly, I'm really just a beginner and got the Silhouette because I'm crafty and my daughter is a major artist. At the time of purchase, I didn't know you can now get Cricut without cartridges so I got the Silhouette.

Pro: fairly easy to use although I watched tons of YouTube videos to learn tips the software, the ability to create your own cut designs, the purchase price was cheaper vs Cricut.

Con: unlike the Cricut, there aren't any classes available in my area at local craft stores like Micheal's etc for Silhouette. The issue with mat replacement losing its stickiness which is probably a issue for both machines. I've heard the Eclipse mat lasts longer than the silhouette mat and is less expensive.

I have two Cricut's for my business. I haven't tried writing with it yet though. Was thinking about using it to address the envelopes for our invitations. Has anyone done this? Or is it a slow process?
