Cricut Maker or Air 2?

on February 5, 2019 at 12:42 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 10
I’m going to purchase a Cricut to hopefully make a lot of our own decorations and signage. Which do you have/prefer?

I haven't heard of the air 2 before but I have many friends who swear by the cricut.

I think the air 2 is just a newer Bluetooth version. So you don’t have to be hooked up to your computer to use it. The maker is also a Cricut but I’m confused as to what makes it so much more expensive and if it’s worth the money.

If you look on their website, you can see side by side the different models compared and what they do. I think generally, the Air is fine for everyone. The Maker is for sewing...but don't quote me Smiley smile

I have the Air 2 and it is fine for me. The Maker is more advanced and gives you the ability to cut thicker materials and fabrics.

If you're just looking to DIY for your wedding things like stencils or vinyl decals, the Air 2 is plenty good enough and about $100 cheaper! I made stickers, signs, escort cards, cookie table cards, and a few more things on my Air 2 for our wedding, and I'd bet most of the brides on here you see making their own signs, etc. are using the Air or a Silhouette, which is another good cutting machine.

I have the explore air 2 and have not had any issues. The Maker just allows to cut more and thicker items. Not worth the money for me

I'm going to be getting the Explore Air 2! The Maker is just too expensive for me, and I won't really need to be cutting much except for cardstock and vinyl on a regular basis

It depends on what you want it for if you want to do soft wood, material, leather, or any other hard materials as such then the maker would be for you if you dont care about all that then the air 2. The maker can also cut everything the air 2 can such as vinyl, iron on, paper, cardstock ect... I have the air 2 cuz I didn't need the extra materials the maker can cut

I got the Explore Air for Christmas (Michaels had an AWESOME deal on it) and I love it! I'm just about to practice cut my vinyl lettering for our window (using white cardstock to make sure I have it how I want it before I cut the precious vinyl)!

If you do quilting or anything like that, the maker is better and worth the money. if you don't need to cut heavy fabrics, save yourself the money and the air2 cuts vinyl and paper and other products just fine

The Maker isn’t necessary unless you sew and will be using it for fabric.
