Crohns Disease Brides

TealWedding, on November 13, 2016 at 1:17 AM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 6

Anyone else with Crohns or UC? I think I'm starting to flare and it's making me so stressed. What if I have to go back on prednisone? I just lost the weight from the last round. What if I get sick before the wedding? What if I can barely make it through the wedding? What if I'm sick on the honeymoon? Anyone else having these thoughts?

I have UC, but I have been very lucky to manage my case with diet and not prescription meds. These are all very real fears. Remember what helps you calm down and stick with that.

Crohns isn't easily controlled by diet like UC... which sucks so much! I'm glad you are able to manage well. Good thoughts your way.

Forgive me if I sound ignorant on this, I only know what my dad has done regarding his Crohn's Disease. He was off and on prednisone for years (he's had it for 30 years - 10" of his large intestines were removed not long after his initial diagnosis). There was a long time that he was getting some kind of infusion that was working well for him. I'm not sure if it's an option for you, but it didn't make him swell up like the steroid did. Unfortunately he had it for so long, he ended up needing a colostomy.

I am so sorry you are going through this. Crohn's isn't something many people understand unless they have either dealt with it themselves or they have a close relationship with someone who has. I pray that you don't have to go back on prednisone! I also hope someday they actually find a cure for it.

Thank you so much! I'm already on the infusion medication, but like you said there's no cure so that medication doesn't guarantee you won't flare up. Woke up feeling worse than last night. Grrrrrr

My FH has UC and is on Remicade every 8 weeks right now and it seems to work well for him. He started a mini flare this week after the election and other people in his office getting sick. He's also been on 6-MP before and that worked well too. The infusions are just easier since he's not taking meds every day. I don't know what it's like to have IBDs myself but I live with someone and I feel for you!

I have UC and it's been flaring really bad these last few months. I just found out it has spread throughout and so now it's really severe. I had to quit my job as an infant teacher last month.

I definitely have those worries about my wedding, so you are not alone. I've tried Prednisone, but I have a bad reaction to steroids. I'm going on Humira, but I can't start until January. I so hope it'll make me feel better. The problem is, is that's it's an immune suppressor, so it would make me prone to infections and illnesses, and I can't go back to my job with the babies.
