Cruise for Honeymoon?

FH mentioned today that it might be fun to go on a cruise for our honeymoon! Neither of us have ever been on one, so I'm just looking for some general advice and opinions on the topic. We have tons of time to decide and aren't looking to book any time soon, I'm just entertaining the idea for now! ...

We have tons of time to decide and aren't looking to book any time soon, I'm just entertaining the idea for now! Smiley smile

E.g., what are some pros and cons of a cruise honeymoon? How soon in advance should one book for the cheapest price? He works at Costco, so we'll go through Costco Travel for cheaper (not sure if that makes a difference in your answers). Anything else we should know?

Thanks in advance!

We did an Alaskan cruise 2 years ago and it was amazing. Princess. FMIL had a hard time giving up control which is the whole point of a cruise. I loved having days where you just laze around the boat, catching a show or hanging out in the spa. Also Alaska was BEAUTIFUL.

Ali- I am cracking up, I swear we could be related! We looked into river cruises in Europe, we eventually decided to do the Euro-rail through Switzerland to Germany Smiley laugh FH got a really nice camera for Christmas and he is so excited to use it!

We are going on a Royal Caribbean Mediterranean cruise for our honeymoon! With Royal Caribbean, you can actually set up a honeymoon fund through the website! We actually bought our tickets through Costco and it seems to be working out fine. I'm very excited for our cruise and hope you get to book too!

    I say -

pros: you get to travel to many places and stay in the same room

cons: it might be a short trip for the certain place you want because it's planned but you can always go back after the honeymoon!

My FH and I LOVE cruises! We have been on Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Norwegian (which is our favorite, because of the freestyle option!) We loved the Bahama's but loved the Caribbean even more! We are looking at going on a cruise to Alaska soon.

Cruises are great because it's all inclusive, and you're able to explore multiple places in one trip! There is something going on, on the ship at ALL times! You could never be bored!

As far as negatives, depending on the ship/ cruise line, it could be crowded at times. We stopped going on Royal Caribbean because they keep cramming more people on their giant ships. Seasickness is not something I would worry too much about. You can take pills, use a band or a patch to help. We were only seasick once and it's because we went through a hurricane and it was really rocky, we also consumed too much alcohol which caused us extra nausea, but again, that was only once.

I think cruises are a great honeymoon idea, and we are also looking into it! Good luck, and have fun!
