Crystal veil DIY

Keri, on December 29, 2015 at 11:11 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 4

I got some really small swarovski crystals to add to my veil. I'm wondering what the best way to attach it to my veil would be? I'm going to glue them on, what would be the best glue to use?

There's a glue they sell at Joanns and probably Michaels/Hobby Lobby called Jewel-It. It is amazing for gluing crystals onto anything. I had to do some heavy blinging out on a costume I made and NONE of them fell off.

ETA: Alternatively you can use E6000 or hot glue and they would still get the job done.

Personally, I would avoid E6000 as it's highly toxic. I won't even work with it outside. It's linked to all kinds of problems and personally I just don't see the point in risking that when there are other products that will get the job done without that issue. Plus it can make fabrics brittle. I would personally try to find some you could sew on as my first choice as that will look the best. Besides that, there are many fabric glues that are great and the good thing about going that way is that it can be cleaned afterwards with no problems. Be sure whatever you pick says it is meant for use on fabric so that you know when you clean your veil afterwards it won't be ruined.

I started to use the E6000 glue and it reminded me too much of the model airplane glue I used on my models when i was a kid. I switched over to the glue gun. I'm sorry to say that won't work for the veil you are trying to make but you can always pick the brains of the employees there!

Wait- are they hot fix? I'd get hot fix heat gun and use that- that's going to be WAY more efficient then trying to clue them on by hand.

    I promise you.
