Cupcake stand ideas

FutureMrs.Cash, on January 9, 2016 at 12:54 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 11

I'm really interested in doing a simple 1-2 tier cake and then matching cupcakes for guests (approx. 150). I figure it is tasty, preportioned, and can be arranged in fun ways. Does anyone have suggestions on where to look for a cupcake stand or how to build/make one? I'm fairly crafty but am also fine with buying premade if it is comparable in price.

That is exactly what we did. Our decorators had a stand already though. Maybe ask your baker if they have something you can rent for the day or if you have decorators or a DOC they might have something.

I thought of this right away: https://showmecute.wordpress.com/2011/09/12/terra-cotta-jewelry-tower-cake-stand/. I found it on Pinterest a few years ago. If you could find some bigger clay plates/plant saucers, it might work for cupcakes. It seems like it would be pretty affordable if you got the supplies from Lowe's, Home Depot, or similar. If not, maybe you can still get some inspiration from it Smiley smile

I've made them from dollar store glass candle stick holders and they sell a 2 pack of stove burner covers. Spray paint them whatever colors and glue them together. I made them for a friend's shower and still use them. I also buy a lot of mine at ross, tjmaxx, etc. I have a cake stand addiction.

These are great ideas! Thanks everyone! From what I've seen of local bakery prices, it is looking like Sam's club or Costco cupcakes (that I jazz up with some DIY decorations/toppers) will be the best option for affordability and still having good flavor. I will not be working in the weeks leading up to the wedding, so I have the time to DIY this. I think with those cake stand ideas it could turn out really cool! I've seen some cardboard/plastic ones that look good in pictures, but I don't know about durability and how they would look in person. If anyone knows anything related to this, please let me know!

These are pictures of ones I saw online with a style that will go well with our wedding. I'm thinking white icing with purple and yellow accents on the display. Pinterest has some good ideas, but it is hard to know if they are practical and durable!

Not sure on your decor. But you can use vintage plates on top of vases or upside down mugs. It would be cute to make them different sizes and heights.

They have cute stands at craft stores like hobby lobby and Michaels. Even some stands that are meant for other things are perfect for cupcakes. That's the best place to look. I've also seen people use candle holders and serving trays and DIY'ing it with super glue.
