Cupcake wrappers that hold their color

Miss Miranda for Now©, on February 9, 2013 at 11:46 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 11

Sooooo I'm making 2 cakes for the wedding, and cupcake versions of each. mine will be a graham cracker cake, but FH's will be red velvet. I LOVE how they turn out, but for Heaven's sakes, if you use pretty cupcake wrappers, the red bleeds through and you can't see the colored paper! Anyone know where I can get some that will withstand the red velvet batter???

I don't know where but you will almost want the tin foil cupcake holders.

Hmmmm I had not thought about that... good point. I know there is a company here in Texas that makes "heavy duty" cupcake wrappers (you can actually fill them and bake them on a regular baking sheet!) but I do not remember the company name, and I have only ever seen them in a Texas flag pattern Smiley sad

I wonder if they make foil ones in colors? We have cupcake collars, but I'd kind of like some color showing through...

What about adding a second wrapper after baking? Like these:

I was going to say use those decorative liners, too. Might be a smidge $$ but I think it will be worth it.

Or just rework your theme around the lone star state flag. Obvious solution right there. Smiley winking

Would any of these work? Some seem to be the ones that you talked about that you just fill and bake on a regular baking sheet.

I have the best luck when I use a more expensive paper cups from Wilton or Williams Sonoma. The link below is for Wilton they have the best selection of colors/themes.

I finally found the link I was looking for! It's a website called createcupcakes.com.

Dig this.... I can't get to it from work Smiley tongue The website is blocked because they have no META tag. Hooray firewalls!

Anyway, I found out the baking cups are made in Sweden... they DO have more colors, and I'm excited!!!

Thank you all for your help! I love a lot of the Wilton cups, and have used them, but they are not quite as heavy as what I'm looking for.

I do have the cupcake collars and I think they will be great with liners in various colors.

I've been using silver tin/foil cupcake wrappers. They're at grocery stores, michaels.... I'm saving money cuz you're right red velvet bleeds thru the pretty wrappers.

I said something to FH about it last night and he says "Yeah... there's an aweful lot of red dye in that cake, isn't there?"

Is it bad that I thought it was cute that he knew how much red dye is in red velvet cake? LOL
