Cupcakes? How many per person

Colleen, on July 3, 2017 at 9:02 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 25

We are doing cupcakes as a dessert, we will have 6 flavors (chocolate, vanilla, reeces, salted caramel, carrot cake, and brownie). I just looked up how many per person and since we are having more than one flavor, it said 2 per person, that is 500 cupcakes. That seems a lot.

Also, I have started looking into a popcorn bar as a favor. A website said 2 cups per person, 16 cups per gallon. So that comes up to 32 gallons for 250 guests.

I'm not concerned about the popcorn but the cupcakes seem outrageous.

I was also going to add a signature drink, we will have beer and wine, but it was $3 per drink ($300 for 100 drinks) and I am thinking of just sticking to beer and wine. I want the signature drink but I do not want to run out and I don't know how many to order.

Anyone else have advise on how many cupcakes or signature drinks?

I would agree with 2 pp. If you're really worried about it being too much then you can have some bags for people to take them home afterwards.

I would do one each because they have the popcorn and the wedding cake to eat. Most of the time people come to wedding to dance... some forget about the dessert and prefer to drink & dance

I like the idea of 1.5pp. It'll even out in the wash, so to speak.

Our baker said 2pp l. Especially if you have such a variety of flavors, people will want to try more than one. Your baker should be able to advise you.

Im prob gonna split 1 of most of the flavors with my date, so i would say maybe 3pp and also make it your favor where people can take them home in boxes. Everyone loves edible favors

The popcorn bar will have bag with our names and wedding date on it. I was going to talk to my caterer to see if they would set it up after they take down the buffet, so people don't use the popcorn as a chips and pretzel type thing before dinner. Our wedding is later so there won't be much time between the start of the reception and dinner.

Our baker didn't lead us to any decision as far as how many. I do like the 1.5 per person. It is a smaller local bakery.

I felt 2 pp seemed like a lot too and then my baker suggested mini cupcakes, which helped with cost and then people can feel free to have a cupcake and then if they want something from the desert bar they have room Smiley smile

My baker suggested 1 pp because they are larger cupcakes, or 2 pp for minis. Are yours regular size or mini? I have heard the 1.5 pp works out well.

If cupcakes was your only source of sugar for dessert, I'd personally eat like half a dozen. Just saying....

UO; but as a guest, I'd only have 1 cupcake & assume that's the serving size.

Definitely 2 pp. Last wedding I went to had 1.5 pp and they ran out. I was not happy, I was towards the end of the line and I love cupcakes!

Were also having cupcakes and I did 1.5 pp. some people will have more than one, others probably won't have any.

ETA: ours are pretty large gourmet sized though. If you get minis, or even just regular cupcakes, definitely get more

Mini cupcakes, think 2-3 per person. Average sized, one per person.

We did cupcakes, cookies, and brownies. We ended up doing 2 pp because of our DOC suggestion. We had so much left over, it was ridiculous. All the cookies and brownies were gone though!
