Curly Hair 3
Hello all!!!
I am a 2022 bride and seriously struggling with what to do with my hair. I have naturally curly 3a/3b hair.

What I’m currently struggling with: 1. I am worried that my hair won’t cooperate and it will be super frizzy or crazy the day of2. I want to feel like myself, but I also want to feel bridal and special the day of3. My dress is a bateau neckline with a low back. So I’ll probably do an updo, half up or long braid.
What did you all do ?? Anyone else worried that your curly hair would look bad the day of?

I have very similar hair! Mine is only slightly longer than yours as well. I have my heart set on getting it blown out and then curled into big loose waves the day of the wedding. I'm sure it will probably get slightly frizzy especially once dancing starts, but I'm honestly thinking of just bringing some moroccan oil with me in my purse and throwing some on it it gets unruly. I think any of the styles you mentioned would look beautiful!

I have super curly hair and am doing an updo. The last thing I wanna do is worry about the frizz or having it fall out. I would recommend doing a hair trial and asking them for samples of curly hair. I had the experience of having my hair trial with someone who also had curly hair. I was soooo excited and thought she’d be the one but my hair fell out on the car ride home! (2hr drive). I would def pay for a trial if you’re able to do so.

I have no advice, just here to say I would looooove to have your hair and that picture of you two dancing..like all I can do is have hair envy. Smiley love I would pray my hair cooperates and keep it down with maybe some pretty hair clips. Etsy has gorgeous options.

My hair is similar and I have similar worries. I am also having a beach wedding so that throws an additional curve. I am planning to do half up half down with some type of braid. I feel like if the top is secure the bottom can just look however it ends up looking and I will be OK with it.

An updo is so classic looking for curls! Good idea for the trial! How did you find your curly hair stylist (word of mouth, google, forums, other?) Why do you think your trial run fell out? Any tips for what they could have done better?

I'm so glad I'm not the only one! A beach wedding is definitely trickier! Do you live near the beach and is your hair used to that climate? If I were you, I'd definitely add a little more (or hard cast) gel than normal. the salt and/or wind could add a little more frizz. But the payoff and the photos will be stunning!!! There's nothing like the beach for an ultimate setting.

That's actually so true about the bottom and top of curly hair! The bottom of my hair always has better curls than the top. Will you do a half braid to the back or a full crown?

Hey honey! Congrats🥰if you are a bold individual and want to knock your husband off his feet I say doing something out of your comfort zone. I suggest a lace front wig! Many black woken wear them, reason we can change our look so quickly…it is a process I say looking it up on YouTube. So if you get one, you can change the color, the length, and put any style in it.

I have curly hair too, not sure the type, but I am also worried about friz since my wedding is near the beginning of summer. I have decided to do my hair like I did at prom, side swept curls, because it was easy and stayed well. I have decided to work with my shampoo and conditioner and find one with good hydration to combat frizz and hope I can keep my hair in good health too.

I looked at vendors on this app and I also joined a few Facebook groups (I’m in NY and wedding is in NJ). So I joined NJ wedding groups. I’d ask there or do a search. I also Went to my venues Instagram page and looked at the tagged photos. A lot of vendors will tag themselves. Not to say they’ll be the one but can be a good place to start. Something I noticed when I did hair trials was that no one did exactly what it would look like day of. Idk if that’s normal or not but I would say you’d want your hair done as it would be the day of your wedding. When I went they didn’t use the Bobby pins that they’d use day or or use any product. I decided on my hair stylist because I liked what I read and felt she was trustworthy. Don’t be shy in asking questions or bringing up concerns you may have. The right person will listen and build that trust.

I’m having the same issue! My hair is substantially longer, so I am planning to do a long braid that will end up being about 1/2 for me. My wedding is in March, so if it’s cold I’ll have great looking hair (no humidity) but if it’s rainy… Fingers crossed for frizz control for all curly haired brides.

Hi! We have similar hair I want my hair down with curls so when I did my first hair trial my stylist suggested I blow out my hair the day before . I did my second hair trial a month ago and my hair was perfect . The night before I used my hot brush and smoothed out my hair like she suggested . Our wedding is in fl where humid is my enemy lol so we picked January a cooler month
This is my hair in its natural state lol before I cut it

I have crazy curly hair as well. I use a keratin treatment twice a year, it has saved my hair, relaxed my curls slightly (it's not a straightener) but the manageability and barely there frizz is why i love it.

Yes I am used to the humidity. I think I am going to a half braid on the side.

I am not sure what to say as my hair is a 4B and thick. My curls have gotten more defined with new products I started using almost a year ago. The one product I just bought has defined my curls and the lasted all day. They didn't fall until days later. I'm not wearing my natural hair unfortunately, but that's because my hair wouldn't last.

Love the curls! What do you currently use on your hair?

Are you going to do your own hair or hire someone? With your hair person I strongly recommend doing your homework. Ask them the types of hair they are used to working with (fine, wavy, curly, thick, etc) and ask to see a look book (before and after). You definitely want to find someone who is used to working with hair like yours. They would be the ones to trust with the look you are going for.

I have 4a/4b hair. I did a hair trial and then did my engagement photos in San Francisco. If you know anything about San Francisco it's foggy AF. There was so much moisture in the air, my hair definitely frizzed up. However, I honestly still loved the frizzy look. I'd just do a test run so you can see what you are in for. I don't mind if my hair gets frizzy, and now I know the worst case scenario (unless I get caught in the rain).
