Custom converse...

spicyykarlii, on September 28, 2016 at 10:39 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 31

I'm thinking, instead of wearing fancy sandals or flats or heels (FH and I are the same height) that I would get custom Converse lowtops made in my colour, royal purple, with the word "Bride" on the heel stripe, to wear for my wedding day. I'm all about comfort, and I figure if my dress is long enough that the shoes won't show when I don't want them too. Plus, I have this idea of FH and I wearing matching shoes and having some cute pictures taken of them after the ceremony.

Worst case scenario, I wear sandals or flats for the ceremony and change into the converse for the reception if it looks too super awkward, and end up with a pair of shoes that serve as memorabilia.

But has anyone else seen or done something like this?

It's actually done...a lot. It's a somewhat played out idea. But, as I LOVE Converse, I always say go for it. I would skip putting bride or groom on them though. I think that is kinda cheesy, especially if you plan on wearing them again. Putting your wedding date on them might be cute though.

Yeah the Converse thing has been overdone, in my humble opinion. ... for years now. If it's what you really want, though then you should do it.

I'm doing this I'm wearing white converses. I tried them on with my dress and you can barely see them when I walk. I'm using blue ribbon as laces for my something blue.

One of my friends got married a few years ago; she and her husband got matching converse in their wedding color with their date on them. She wears them all the time!

I love this idea. I would say if you want to do it go for it.

I don't understand what height has to do with it.

I would have done it if I thought there was any chance in hell I could get my husband to wear Converse. I almost did it without him but it just didn't seem as great of an idea by myself. I might just go buy a new pair anyway...

@JoRocka because FH and I are the same height I don't want to wear heels and be taller hence what height has to do with it.

I didn't realize that a shoe can be "overdone" lmao I just wanted to be comfortable, and maybe make some unique keepsake, but I'm glad that it wouldn't be strange for me to do!

I LOVE my regular converse and so badly want ones for our wedding day. I'm thinking of getting ones that have the date on one shoe and Mrs. Newlastname on the other shoe. That way after the wedding I can still wear them. I think I wouldnt wear ones that said "Bride" on them much after

My entire bridal party is wearing Converse. I'm wearing custom converse that I had hand painted by a friend. You don't see them at all under my dress, but we will make sure to take pictures where they can be seen because we love them.

I'm with you! I hate heels and would much rather be comfortable on my wedding day (though admittedly I do love seeing all the heels the ladies of WW are wearing... I can appreciate how pretty they are while not wanting to wear them myself). My avatar is the back of my wedding shoes. My FH doesn't really like "casual" shoes, so he plans on wearing dress shoes... and it didn't remotely change my decision!! I'm going to add in ribbon laces with the date on them

I wore boots for the ceremony and then changed to grey converse to match DH and our son. They wore theirs for the ceremony and reception. Our weren't custom though. We also wore matching socks but our son's socks were grey and yellow with construction trucks.

Our colors were grey, yellow. Coral, and navy so these fit in pretty well.

FH is having a pair made of the traditional black and white high tops. He wants to get hem embroidered with our date on the side.

I wasn't impressed with the converse Website and the level of customization. I wanted to get a pair of white ones and have " Mrs. XYZ" Written on the side but there is a strict character limit and FH's last name wouldn't even fit without the Mrs.

@TMNT --love those and FH would kill for them. He has about 5 different pairs of Batman/Batman villains ones right now and hasnt been able to find TMNT ones.

I was totally going to do this because I wear cons 330 days out of the year until I saw a pair of boots and fell in love. At this point I'd say cons on a bride are nowhere near as out there as they used to be.

    Good song @Alecia Smiley smile

My actual question was why does it matter if you're taller?

    who cares?

I'm wearing converse, dont really care if it's over done or not! I'd rather be comfortable than tripping down the aisle because I never wear heels lol

This has been countless of times. To the point of being overdone. Also, I could care less if I end up being taller then FH if I wear heels. I personally don't think converses are formal enough for my ceremony or reception.

Do what you LOVE whether it has been done a lot or not. If you love it, do it.
