Custom ring

Megan Thompson, on June 9, 2021 at 7:30 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10
Hey yall! I'm looking for some opinions here. So, my engagement ring was my mother's wedding set (she passed when I was 16). It's the whole engagement ring and band combined into one piece. We are having a band custom made to fit into the other side of the ring opposite of where hers sits. The jeweler currently has it so he can make the mold and do what he needs to do to make my band. I'm kind of wondering If I should just have him solder it all together while he has it rather than having to take it back to him to have that done after the wedding? Would it be weird to get married with my engagement ring already soldered to my band or should I just wait? The only thing about waiting to have it done is the fact that I miss my ring lol other than that there really is no benefit to having it done while he has it.

I think just get it all over with now. It’s up to you though. You could wait and do it later if you think you would feel weird having it done ahead of time.

I think I'd rather just get it all done at once but I wasn't sure how weird it would be to have it done ahead of time

    It’s not weird.
My mom got her engagement ring, wedding band, and 5 year ring soldered together bc the clicking drove her crazy. She said she wished she did it earlier.
I think if you know you want it done, do it now while you’ve got the opportunity. Otherwise you might keep saying ‘later’.Maybe if you’re feeling ‘naked’ you could find one of those 25cent dispenser with a ring and go on a date to get it 🥰

She also said she had to go up a size (of course she had two toddlers lmao) but I think bc of how it rests it’ll fit different. Be sure to try it on and think about heat swelling to be sure it’s the right fit.

If you know you want them soldered together, I think it's fine to do it now if you aren't sentimental about your fiance putting the wedding band on your finger for the 1st time on your wedding day. I personally like the ability to just wear my wedding band without the engagement ring on some days, so I never got my ring soldered together. But if you know you'll never wear them apart, then doing it while he has them makes tons of sense!

I plan to get mine soldered after the wedding, but I am a bit sentimental and don’t want to wear the wedding band before getting married.

My fiance just pointed that out and I feel the same way so I'm thinking if I do it then I'd have to put the ring up until the wedding which would completely delete the purpose of avoiding going with out my ring again lol
