Custom Water Bottle Labels Question

Courtney, on February 2, 2012 at 5:29 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 13

Sorry this question may seem silly, in order to do the labels how do you go about removing the original one that came on the water bottle so it doesn't leave that sticky residue.Or will it not matter since the custom label cover all of that? Just trying to decide if this is something that I want to do. I want to make sure that it looks neat and not like I did it myself Smiley smile

Thanks, Courtney

You can try soaking them in water overnight and then just peel right off. As far as the sticky residue, that comes off with nail polish remover. Not sure you want to go through all that trouble, I say just stick the label right over the original one! =) Good luck!

Peel it off and stick the other one right on top. No one will see the residue as it will be covered by the new label

^That's exactly what we did. It was fine.

Remember when you are buying your bottle labels that not all are waterproof. If you intend on putting them in a cooler with ice, the DIY labels at Michaels don't hold up. I learned the hard way...fortunately I rescued the situation in time.

I just finished mine yesterday!! I just peeled off the old label. There was some residue but the custom label that you put on will cover it and no one will know the difference. I went to Staples and had them printed with a laser printer so the ink wouldn't run. I also then used packing tape to "laminate" them. I haven't actually tested that yet in ice water (like would end up in an ice bucket) but got the idea from someone who had.

I just got it from the grocery store. It was on sale so I got it cheaper than I even would have at a Costco, etc.

It was just under $20 for me to print 280 labels. Then around $5 for the packing tape. Granted it took me a few hours to do it all but it saved money!!

I finally got around to uploading the pictures! The water bottles that I'm using had narrow labels which I wanted so I was able to fit 7 on to each letter size page. I did 4 different designs. Pictures are of 1 full sheet before I cut them and the other picture is after they were "laminated" on the front with packing tape and then placed onto the bottle. I just used double sided tape on each end to attach them. They've held up well so far. Let me know if you have any questions!

Love the labels...I did something like this for my sons football team for spirit shakers LOL! I am going to have to contact my wedding planner and see if I bring her labels to the Bahamas if she will do this to the waters for all the guest.

These labels look great. For my friend's sports meet, I'm thinking of getting something like this. I'll ask Samantha Springs, my water bottle label provider to get this done for me.

P.S. Thanks for sharing the pics.
